Strange....
This sounds like when Air Berlin gave me a match from my Turkish gold, I received a confirmation email saying i am gold, and sapphire one world status, and thats what it shows when logging into my account, however i recived my monthly statement from Air Berlin, it said Gold, and next to it there was a picture of a Air Berlin Platinum card, and next to that it says One World Emerald! Maybe it will be First Class lounges for me in Heathrow... I might show the lounge people the statement to get in...

Same here. Statement shows black card and OW Emerald. It's just a bug with their mail.

It is indeed strange. Before you have the physical card, if you travel, I'd advise you to take a print out of your Plat/OWE card, showing the validity of your OWE status, for the first class lounge access. And try to make sure that your status appears on your BP!!

When i called up air berlin they told me that i definitely am only One world sapphire - which is the status of the gold card, so according to the letter of the law i am not entitled to first class lounges etc. although there seems to be a glitch in the system as mlqsko pointed out earlier.

You realize there's an invention called the computer and that airlines can just check your alliance status right

Whenever I ask for a status match, I always send a copy of my statement, just in case they wouldn't make the match without it.

See, however, Post #923 earlier, that KiteM received Air Berlin Gold (One world sapphire) just by providing photo of gold gulfair card (which is very easy to get!)

Been over two weeks and no response with AS for MVP GOld 75k. Although I am requesting a match for the 2nd time (first time was for MVP for just two months).

:D Haha...yeah! What I thought OP was referring to was that he had PLAT/OWE status, and it is only showing it in his statement, not any place else!!

I sent Delta copy of united gold status - picture of status from united website, and was refused, because i recived united as a match as well, and have n ot flown with them! This is unlike air berlin who matched KiteM from his showing Gulfair card without flying with them!

Just a data point: AC matched someone I know to Elite 50K against a plethora of other statuses he had.

Amusingly, the person in question ended up flying so much in the year that he ended it as a Super Elite anyway, thus sort of wasting the status match opportunity, as it's a once-in-a-lifetime thing.

Well, he did gain that the first flights he took with them, he had the status which he wouldn't have otherwise had, which could be what encouraged him to fly more which is the whole reason airlines give matches...

I started with Aegean Gold, matched Aegean to TK gold, matched TK to AB gold, matched AB to United gold. I asked Delta for a match because of my United gold (as they only match UA elite status, not TK or AB or A3), but when they saw the screenshot that i sent them, that my account had no flights credited, they understood that i received it as a match or something else, so they refused to match.
