Interesting, I've noticed on Statusmatch.com that one guy was able to get Alitalia Freccia Alata (Skyteam Gold) matching from El Al Matmud program.@:-)
It's been years I'm trying to get Gold status from Alitalia or Aeroflot, they never replied to my requests, just like Etihad..:(

I have heard that TK only accept Star Gold, SkyTeam Elite Plus and oneworld Emerald statuses.

What I meant was that El Al matmid would not GIVE OUT a match to someone who has Aegean gold, but they would give to someone who has Turkish Gold, but only if they are provided with a full year of statements (I only had 8 months, so they declined a match because a full year is required)

Aeroflot replied that they don't have a statusmatching campaign at the moment, which led me to beleive that they once did, and after a bit of searching, i found that around 2 years ago they had an offer that anyone who flies 2 round trips in business, or 3 round trips in economy, is eligible for a status match.

Air Berlin gave me a match to my Turkish Gold but refused to give me a match to my Aegean.

United just now gave me a match (A challenge - Gold for 90 days, and to keep it for a year i need 12,500 base PQMs or 15 segments on United, United Express, or Copa Airlines) because of my Air Berlin Gold (although i sent them copy of Virgin Silver aswell - might have done the trick.)

(even though a few months ago i was refused, saying they do not have status matching campaign on now, i saw that someone got a match on 2 Jan 2015 on statusmatcher.com, so maybe they have started a campaign even though there's no mention) I sent them AB gold, Turkish Gold, Virgin Silver - we'll see what happens.

Korean Air replied no status matching available.

Malaysian Airlines do not give matches (Even after all the disasters - they obviously don't feel they'll get more customers by matching)

Vietnam Airlines have told me at least twice that they do not match at all.

Turkish give matches (although their official rule is only to *A gold, One world emerald, and skyteam elite plus, some have reported getting turkish gold from *A Silver ). See post #836 for more details.

Cathay Pacific give matches if provided with future flight details with them, plus past statements from your elite member airline. (send to [email protected])

Royal Jordanian would match if flown one flight, plus the following conditions: Status match will be approved one time only for the same passenger.
The processing and approval of each status match request would be at the sole discretion and judgment of Royal Jordanian Airlines. (send to [email protected])

American Airlines (AAdvantage give a challenge to match: in order to enroll in the challenge you must pay 140 USD, and then earn 5,000 miles with them fron any oneworld carrier, then they will match to gold. Send email to [email protected], or call them - the UK number is +442076602300.

virgin Atlantic matched my Turkish Gold to Their silver, plus fast track to gold (20 flights instead of 40). Send to [email protected], or [email protected].

Hilton Hotels give fast track challenge to gold. I asked them if they could match me in the meantime to Silver because of my Marriott silver - they agreed. (Send to [email protected] or [email protected])

Marriott Hotels don't give matches at all.

Choice hotels give matches - they gave me gold after i sent them Marriott silver and Hilton silver and Turkish Airlines Gold. (Send to [email protected])

Club Carlson match depending on status with other hotels - they would not match to my Hilton or marriott silver "because that is equal to there entrance level - red." They did however match me afterwards because of my Best Western Platinum - They matched me to Gold.

SPG (starwood) give fast track to gold (9 nights within 90 days) or platinum (18 nights within 90 days) if you have not had fast track within 5 years.

Hyatt no longer give matches.

No, the miles need to be on Joint venture airlines not all oneworld airlines qualify

I just received the same email and I answered them (as per they request).

How long did it takes for you to be upgraded?

They status matched my GulfAir Gold status (matched with my A3 Gold status).

Etihad......is still on the way.
I receive the same email from different Service Coordinator, I also tried to write them via twitter and they asked me to send my request to another email address (that will forward it to the first department)... but w/o luck.

Since many airlines only match once you might want to plan accordingly instead of hoarding them all at once... Ie why would you match to three star golds at once?

If you play it right you can get status to last longer

NB: AA marketed flights, operated by EY, do count for the challenge. For eg AUH-JFK or ORD-AUH. But in this case you need a ticket issued by AA and the flight is a codeshare AA/EY.

Or were you talking about the miles you will fly on EY in the next weeks? Afaik (I booked the same) this is an EY Z-fare. Z-fare is excluded from any earnings on AAdvantage, unfortunately. No bonus, and apparently not even base miles.

I have to fly AUH-GRU (probably the same flight as yours) and I'm trying to figure out on which FF program accrue the miles.

On EY I will earn double miles (as per their promotion) plus 40% more (if gold), but to get award ticket I need a lot of miles (and money).

On AB I will earn 40% more and it seems I need less miles to get award ticket.

So, I don't know yet which is the best for me

Could you share the double miles promo from EY? I'm afraid I have missed this.

Furthermore, I tend to write or call AA because I don't think that it was intentional to exclude EY Z-fares from any earnings.

I can fully understand that they don't want to grant bonus miles for Z vs bonus miles for I or J, but it's not very logical that one would earn 0 miles for Z, which is still more expensive than a regular ticket in coach (or even discounted tickets in coach). For the latter one still would earn 100% of the miles flown. :confused:
