Which one world airline will status match to star alliance? Which star alliance will match to one world? This will be for the low tier gold/silver levels for free Checked bags and priority access through security lines.

Do you have a link with the details of how to request the match?

FYI. This does work. You need ExPlat or equivalent to get ElitePlus on ST. Plat matches to their oro? or Elite on ST. Relatively prompt.

Which Airline Status Match?

I have upcoming back-to-back-to-back trips in March (Incl. Intl and West Coast) that will total approximately 18-20K miles. I am currently USAir Silver, but think this is an opportunity to claim a Gold or above status match on another airline (US will not allow status match to current preferreds). Good idea? Is there any advice on which program to pursue?

AS, AA, DL could work

Which Airline Status Match?

Take plat challenge with AA

GraceC Jan 2, 2013 8:53 am

op probably knows this, but fwiw:

match = you're given a similar status on the new carrier, generally without additional travel

challenge = you need to do some work to get status on the new carrier. may also be asked to pay an upfront fee.

also, you've seen this?

Thanks GraceC for the clarification. I used the wrong term - "challenge" is the opportunity I'm thinking with my upcoming travel runs. And then later I could possibly "match" the new challenged status back to another carrier. (For example, AA seems to have best Platinum challenge, but Delta & USAirways have most convenient flights for my day-to-day travel).

Also, I have seen the thread you linked - very helpful and thank you

Right - I don't think DL has a way to challenge without existing status on another airline, and from what I'm inferring, you don't have any yet.
