You are correct, sir. I called, and BofA confirmed the 40K offer and the time frame of 10-12 weeks to receive it in my Alaska Air account

10-12 weeks? So it takes at least 2 months to get the 40K miles? Wow, you get the miles MUCH faster from UA/CO Chase even though they have an initial spending requirement...lame

I think they are just saying that to be safe. IIRC it posts within a day or two of the statement close date.

Actually, since I need the miles waaaaaay before 10-12 weeks, I checked the Alaska Air website and it says 1-2 weeks (whew...hope that estimate is more accurate).

Um, good luck finding seat availability if you plan to redeem for immediate travel.

I haven't been able to get anyone on the phone for this. Any ideas?
If I stay on the line it says it will transfer me to an application specialist, but then it asks for an account #, which I don't have yet (b/c I haven't been approved). Other than that, there's just an automated app status checker.

I called 1.800.732.9194 and then gave my SSN to the representative.

Any good reasons for a second card? I mean, other than 40K more miles? I'll be appealing soon and feel a little flat-footed.

Do you perhaps need one card for your non tax-deductible leisure travel and one card for your tax deductible travel?

Success with Reconsideration

This morning when I went to apply for both Virgin and Alaska cc's the online system was down. I phoned the telephone numbers on the app's. First phone call got approval for a $15K limit. I asked to lower it to $5K so I could also get Alaska card. They said no problem but when I telephoned the Alaska app got denied. Finally got the reconsideration phone number, called and csr overturned denial and gave me Alaska card with $10K limit also.

The golden reconsideration number is 866-458-8805

Now I'm tempted to try for the HA cc also since all inquiries from same lender on same day are combined by bureaus.
