I've only done one order so far but this is what I was planning on saying too.

Love the idea of hitting the slot machines with them. Put as much as you can in one machine, get a ticket...keep going until you use them up. Wish I had a casino closer to do it from time-to-time.

I always tell them exactly why I'm doing it, but on my most recent visit (yesterday), the teller asked, "So where do you get all these coins from?" It's funny, because she's one of the ones I explained it to before - she probably didn't understand it.

I told her I get them from the US Mint, and she said, "OH!" Then she said, "Are you looking for something in particular? A flaw of some sort?" I responded, "Finding flaws in coins can be an obsessive hobby, but it can also be very fun!"

She smiled and went about depositing my 3k.

I have been doing the mint orders slowly, gently, quietly. I have three bank accounts and they all have branches, so there is no need for me to bring attention to this. One teller told me she would be shipping these out immediately. another said that he has had some requests for these dollars.

I have used the mint to make minimum spends on new cards and to get my SPG account up to 60K. The mint certainly has made those processes much easier to accomplish!

BOA Counting Problem

My experience is with Bank of America.

My latest problem is that a deposit of $4,000 in US mint cards was accepted and credited with a receipt. I then moved the money out.
A mysterious deduction of -$322.93 on December 15 from my account came to made.

This apparently related somehow to either a $2,000 deposit on Nov. 10, or a $2,000 deposit Nov. 18. Notice the long delay

About three weeks later they debited my account$322.93 claiming the coins when finally counted had been miscredited. There is an obvious error since a deposit of only dollar coins could not produce an error end in cents. So far I have not been able to get this corrected.

While going by the branch to learn more, I made another deposit of coins. The branch had been told not to accept and credit them , but to send them for counting. When finally credited, the amount had odd cents, again indicating a counting problem.error may be a dollar and change in my favor here.

The branch said the original deposit had sat there for a while, and then I made the second deposit, and since that was more money than they had room for, they then sent it in.

My original phone complaint produced a representative that could not explain anything. He could not even confirm it was a coin counting problem. I was promised an investigation with an answer within a week. I have still to receive the written answer promised.

My original idea which was that since the business account was supposed to accept up to $10,000 in coins each month, I could deposit US mint coins and meet the $750 requirement per month on a BOA offer for a new business account to earn $200 (expired). Instead, it just produced a monetary loss, and a major headache.

Something about paying parking fines, vehicle registration, etc., feels much better when you make it in a stack of dollar coins

what if you just take them to a grocery store or check cashing store and immediately turn the coins into money orders thereby bypassing the bank teller?

I went in to my bank today to conduct some non-coin business and as soon as she pulled my account she started....
- The coins you brought in last time...where did you get them from?
- From the mint!
- Are these for a scheme where you use your american express card for points?
- NO!

Be careful out there, someone is trying to track stuff.

Or she heard about it via one of the many web sites to mention it

Does anyone really believe that their CC comapny doesn't know what's going on? Or that the Mint doesn't know about what we're doing?

I agree ^^.
I could care less, it is more than obvious to the mint. Also, what we are doing is legal.

Just took my first 1k to the bank. Young teller just stared at the coin rolls I was taking out from a box onto the counter. Said nothing at first then asked really unsurely, "are you collecting these or something? I've never seen so many coins." I just smiled and she processed it swiftly.

I recently brought in my second-ever batch of coins ($1,000 this time). The first time ($750), the teller didn't ask a single question, and, as far as I could tell, she didn't even count the number of rolls in the box and just took my word for it. This last trip, the teller asked where I got them, and for some reason I blurted out that my company gives them as bonuses. He pressed it a little bit and asked what company it was, and I just told him my line of work and the city I work in.

Any business owners out there ever think of doing this? If you're going to give out cash bonuses anyway, why not get some miles while doing it?

So, doing her part to put them in circulation, my wife took $500 in rolled coins through the metal detector at the courthouse and used them to pay our taxes. My wife asked if they minded taking them and they said not at all, they'd just carry them over to the bank at the end of the day.

So those coins were in circulation for... *checks watch* maybe two hours.
