Taking your coins to the bank -- what's your story?

Initially I was nervous taking my coins to the bank. I've never taken more than $2k at a time, and I have been using several banks to make my deposits.

Tellers inevitably ask, "where did you get all of these?" Feeling the need to come up with an explanation, I typically say, "I have a client who pays for his account with these. Must be a coin collector or something..."
...
"Oh Yeah? What do you do?"
"I'm in sales."
...

But lately I've been just saying I'm a pirate

What about the rest of you: What is the largest amount of coins you'll deposit in a bank on a regular basis, and what is your story/explanation to the curious/nosy tellers?

Happy New Year!

I think you will find a majority if not all members on this board distribute every last coin! The only time I take mine to the bank is when I need to go out of town and can't distribute them all. For security! Then when I come back I pick them back up... that is.. if people that go to my bank don't snatch them all up! ^

Don't you know these are collector's items?? There is a reason no one wants to distribute them, they want to keep them all to themselves!

These collector's items aren't worth anything when anyone can be a collector.

How do you get miles by taking your coins to the bank?

You get the miles when You buy them from the mint for face value. There is a thread on this subject

Hopefully a moderator will be along to merge this with existing megathread if it's not about getting miles when you take your coins to the bank.

We all use them in place of bills for change in our businesses. Also I use tons of them for tolls and Taco Bell.
If I could only buy $2 bills I would use them for change in our store too.

Judy $2 bills were so 2010! I was bringing in backpacks full of them in to deposit. A lot less stress on my back. I miss Bing cashback

I could never get them cheap enough with bing since the sellers jacked up the prices. Now they are out of sight!

My grocery store (WinCo) doesn't accept credit cards, so I use spend them there.
