I didn't receive any points or emails for my checkins yesterday or the day before, but received both today (Doubletree and Holiday Inn)

shakezula Sep 26, 2012 7:46 pm

I've been receiving my priority points but after a half dozen check ins at a homewood suites / Hampton inn, no HHonors points to be found.

jjkpartsman Sep 27, 2012 6:24 am

yeki89 Sep 27, 2012 6:36 am

newballs Sep 27, 2012 9:43 am

A Homewood or a Hampton is not a Doubletree.

Suspended:(

jobu2 Sep 28, 2012 7:18 am

what about virgin america? is anyone getting points for VA? posted like clockwork until the end of august. Points continue to post to topguest but not to VA, where it matters. no problems with anything else.

flapping arms Sep 28, 2012 9:23 am

I can still sign in to TG just fine. But I'll wait a while longer to check in via 4sq.

flashware Sep 28, 2012 9:27 am

Almost everyone I know has had their accounts suspended, but my DT Hilton and IHG points seem to still be posting in the usual speed.

Weeks ago. No confirmed reports of VA points in quite some time.

newballs Sep 28, 2012 10:47 am

No point or email after 9/26. Can still log in but I guess it may be the end for me.

chrisksc Sep 28, 2012 11:23 am

I still don't understand why the suspension. This is getting a bit too much.

I told them I could provide them with proof of my stays at the hotels either showing them my invoices or screen shots of my online accounts but they don't seem to be interested. (for the purposes of their latest reply, they looked up their own activities as I did not submit anything to them since they were not interested to get from me)

This is crazy!

I wrote in regarding the reasons and their replies were:

Thanks for contacting us. After considering your appeal and reviewing your prior activity we have decided to leave your account suspended. For security and privacy reasons, we do not disclose the specific criteria we use to identify and flag accounts.
Thanks and happy travels,

Topguest

Thanks for your respond.

This has to be the worst way to irritate your best users!!!

How on earth can you suspend withou first asking for verifications from the your suspected user??

I can't speak for others but I travel on the road most of the time and I am the highest Elite member with Prioirty Club for staying at their properties.

Do you need proof of that? I can give you a screen shot of my account activities!!!

This is just utterly insane.

chrisksc

Confirm the user has been blacklisted and that you do not want to reactivate them. These should stop once Tim gets TP 33974 into production. Reply:

Thanks for contacting us. The reason why you are unable to log into your account is because it has been flagged and suspended for suspicious check-in activity. The spirit of Topguest is to reward you for actually visiting Topguest partner locations, and sharing your presence at Topguest partner locations with your friends. Topguest flags check-ins based on a number of tests including, but not limited to:

-Check-ins that are unreasonably frequent and or impossible to make based on the location(s)

-The friends with which the user shared their check-ins

-Checking into a venue that is not known to exist at the address where the venue was created

-Using third party services to automatically check into eligible locations

While your account is suspended, you will not earn points via Topguest for checking into partner venues.

Thanks and happy travels,

Topguest

Original message
Hi Support Team at Top Guest,

Recently, I noticed my PriorityClub accounts were not credited with points for my Check-Ins. When I tried to login to my Top Guest account, I was not able to do so.

Can you kindly assist in this matter?

Thanks.

Regards,
chrisksc

I love that they leaked their internal communication out to you in their reply. I wonder if TP 33974 is a more descriptive "go away, you're blacklisted" page.

satz Sep 28, 2012 3:21 pm

I noticed that points and emails have posted sporadically this week and their website was down a few times. I wonder what is going on.

There were 2 non consecutive days during the week where no points were posted and recorded after check in.

I really wan to reply back to her and say "No problem. I bet you're really looking forward to Tim getting TP 33974 into production."

Science Drone Sep 28, 2012 10:45 pm

I got the warning e-mail Friday night but I haven't been checking into any Topguest partners! (I've stopped traveling for work, and I completely forgot I was signed up for Topguest.)

In fact, I appear to only have three check-ins that earned points through Topguest, and they're from 2010 and 2011. That seems like a really low threshold to call someone a cheater.

Correction: Maybe seven check-ins. Found 200 points in my Choice Privileges for September & October 2011. (They weren't listed in my Topguest account because CP isn't a TG program anymore.)

LufthansaFlyer Sep 28, 2012 10:53 pm

steady as she goes for me....hiccup last weekend result in 100 miles being added tuesday to catch up. so far so good...

whatmeworryaus Sep 29, 2012 4:18 am

No warning emails for me, however checkins r not earning points and I still can get into my TG account. Will back off for a while.

Majikow Sep 29, 2012 9:03 am

So every single one of my gmail aliases (for both me and the mrs.) got the email from Celeste. Even the ones that don't earn points anymore (BW, Wyndham). Not sure how they ran the report, but it appears it was a mass purge (or pre-purge). No accounts shut down so far. I wonder if I should pull back, or keep it full steam ahead.

newballs Sep 29, 2012 10:50 am

No points or email for days. I guess I should just put this habit to rest for a while.

TopGuest suspension

I received notice of inappropriate account activity yesterday from Celeste Williams. I responded in protest and have just been suspended from Topguest. I wonder if an appeal will get me anywhere. I have to send my Hilton Honors account # in appeal letter so was wondering how legitimate this all is. Bummer

Stubtify Sep 29, 2012 11:22 am

They are so dumb. Shut me down a month ago, and I got Celeste's email in my two accounts saying to stop "or else."

I took my 40k points from them and now they're cry-babying? The end is near for TG. I'm really interested to see what is in TP 33974.

From my experience and others, appeals rarely make a difference.

Similarly, based on my experience, when you receive an email from TG, do not appeal, do not even try to reply to the email. Simply stop check-in for a few days and you'll be fine. From what I read, writing back will just cause account suspension.

hulagrrl210 Sep 29, 2012 3:32 pm

My husband and kiddo both got the "warning" email but actually had their accounts suspended ::confused::

satz Sep 29, 2012 4:32 pm

That's funny. It looks like they are sending to emails to everyone regardless of activity and account suspension

Did they stop check-in after they receive the email? Did they reply to the email?

whatmeworryaus Sep 29, 2012 9:40 pm

Seems to me, they are running out of cash and are desperately trying to save a sinking sink!

mooper Sep 30, 2012 3:14 am

I've said it before and I'll say it again: The only cost-effective way to participate is a well-written script. You won't get suspended, nor will you spend more time than it's worth. Their business model doesn't work, so get what you can before they're gone.

I'd advise to full steam ahead. Examples show that there is no pattern, every account will be shut down earlier or later
