I just pulled the trigger on the ORD-YVR-YYZ-SCL-EZE-MEX at $491..

Very happy - thanks to the OP!!!^

It will almost all credit at least something to my *A FFP.. as the Mexicana flight will supposedly credit points (but not count toward tier status).. only the LAN flight SCL-EZE will be "orphaned"....

Getting to ORD from where I am going to be was SO much easier.. big thanks to skye1 again for the hint there!^

The LAN SCL-LIM flights I saw were in coach. Not horrible if they are, as long as you're aware of it.

This is my very first MR....for just under $700 ai I got

jfk->yvr->yyz->scl->gru->mex

the first three legs are on AC, then scl->gru on Swiss, and then gru->mex on AeroMexico...

This was the best for me because no overnight layovers (so no hotel costs) and will get miles on *A and Skyteam (I don't have OW and didn't want to start for just one flight!)

So a bunch of questions for those of you are more experience than myself...

-As I am just transiting in scl and gru I don't need a visa right? And as an American citizen I of course don't need a visa for Mex.

-Any suggestions on flight from Mex back to NYC? Was pricing and seems like I can get an econ ticket for about $250 straight to HPN, which is actually easier for me

-Have about a 5 hour layover in GRU. Arriving on Swiss but leaving on AeroMexico. Which lounge can I hang out in? The one associated with Swiss or AeroMexico? Given a choice which one SHOULD I hang out in?

-Normally order a special meal, but in business if you get one, say a vegetarian one, or a religious one, is it actually BETTER or just the same slop they give you in econ?

Wow so excited...if anyone has advice for a newbie please let me know....

LAN's EZE-SCL-MEX flights can be booked in Business Class.

Sample itin:
ORD-YVR-YYZ-SCL-EZE, Air Canada

EZE-SCL-MEX, LAN

$491

So, sort of a half *A, half OW.
Not finding (nor am expecting to ) any all-OW routings.

BA has a 744 segment between EZE and GRU for those who want to sample Club World. It departs at 12:15 p.m. and arrives at 2:50 p.m. on a few of the dates at which I am looking.

that would be cool, and would raise the OW miles a little for sure. Dates???
(am checking the BA site for freq.)

XX-XX-XX-XX-mex

Got XX-XX-XX-XX-mex in May. A bit more expensive than some of the posts (697 ai C$) but I'm happy with it (since everything but the last one is AC).

Trying to add more *A on I had looked at XX-XX-XX-XX-scl-gru-mex (priced at 740) with the SCL-GRU on LH5301 (operated by LX). However, expedia.ca was saying that AC92 lands in SCL at 10:25am and LH5301 leaves at 11:55am. After checking the AC schedule though, it reads that AC92 lands in SCL at 12:30. For the extra cost and this inconsistency I didn't add that segment. I hope I am wrong and this doesn't cause problems for Atif-I-C (or anyone else).

BOS works too

Also, BOS works.

BOS-ORD-YVR-YYZ-SCL-PTY-MEX
612.70 ai(C$)

BOS-ORD-YVR are UA
The funny thing is the YVR-YYZ comes up as Air New Zealand (op by AC).
YYZ-SCL is AC
SCL-PTY-MEX is Copa Airlines
