Right, and IIRC U.S. Citizens will be finger printed upon entry as a reciprocal measure. Incidentally an AA pilot gave the finger at that point, and was promptly arrested and expelled.

Another trivia - Canucks will be hit with a $130 fee upon landing in Chile. Hefty if one only spends one day in Santiago.

"IIRC U.S. Citizens" ?? IIRC??

But again if just transiting...almost seems like you should haven't to get off the plane since it is the same flight, Air Canada flt 92...

Why the $130 landing fee for Canadians? (Hopefully not Americans too!)

Aw..I should know that...

So has anyone know much about Mexicana? Do they have any agreements with US carriers so that I would get useful (for me) miles?

I think they did the fingerprinting a few years back. Nothing recently, unless they started again in the last few weeks.

I think if you transit only, no $100 or $130 fees.

The fare works for other destinations in Mexico also. I had planned a trip to SJD (Los Cabos) in September and was able to book ewr-yyz-gru-mex-sjd for $662 ai in business on Expedia. A round about way to get there for about the same cost of a more direct flight in F.

If somebody could post how to do this in detail (with any dates that work) it would be much appreciated.
I have not been able to figuer it out, but would like to do it.
Starting in IAH (if possible).

Well, you can try different cities, but I think everyone has spelled it out pretty nicely so far. Start in EWR or JFK, and use cities other peoples have posted. Once you get something that prices right, then try altering one city, or play with the dates a bit. I wouldn't think a OW IAH-NYC fare would be too much.

So are we pretty much sure that the reason stopovers don't work is because of the dreaded HIP check?
