Please:
Do NOT call the airline while the fare is still alive!
(Definitely dead now. Plead your case to have your ticket(s) reinstated!)

Was the cancelled one the earliest of the travel dates?

Just received an email from Orbitz US....

Dear Orbitz.com Traveler,

Air New Zealand made the following change(s) to your itinerary:
* Cancelled 4 of your flights.

If you have recently been in direct contact with the airline and have initiated these changes yourself, there is no need to contact us. Changes made directly with the airline may not be available for viewing in your Orbitz.com itinerary.

Is this ever possible to fight, I assume chance of reinstating is tiny/zero?
I have some airNZ positioning tickets, I assume airNZ will courtesy cancel them without a fight

I got the same message as above as well, from Expedia AU.

Any recourse? I have positioning flights booked, can I ask NZ to reimburse me?

Looks like mine booked through AMEX Travel are canceled. AMEX can't confirm, but the record no longer works on the AirNZ website. Did a chat with AMEX and first they said all is good. Then I said it doesn't look like it. They said oh, I see you made a change to the ticket. I said I did not. In their super customer support, they said to call the airline!

We have received notice from Air New Zealand that they have:

Cancelled Expedia AU here. Was fun while it lasted. Haven't flown ANZ before, don't plan to any time soon.

Wonder if they canx or not...wishing all the best and hope we hear about it.

Had a particularity nasty NZ agent who told me to get lost it is Expedia's problem, they did not sell me the ticket and they will not assist or recognize any ticket sold by a 3rd party until after travel has commenced (sounds bogus but...)

Anyways, Expedia seeing if they can sort out.

My other flights and hotels are going to need to be made whole by NZ.

Booked via Amex Travel. Seems cancelled now. Glad I booked positioning flights within last 24 hrs, about to intitiate cancellations now.

IAD - BNE (40k UA points)
BNE - LAX (ANZ Z class)
LAX - IAD (12.5k Avios)
IAD - LAX (12.5k Avios)
LAX - BNE (ANZ Z class)
BNE - IAD (40k UA points)

Will save a lot of points as positioning was quite complex.
