However, you may be able to change some segments around after flying the first. You'll need first-hand reports of that, though, as they may have heavily notated these reservations.
I'd actually love to change the dates so that they're YVR-HND direct without going through USA. Less important would be to have a few days in TYO and/or a longer itinerary

Yes, in that case I'll just call in to reinstate two cancelled reservations and change it to the dates I want

I think people that have a working ticket now should be happy with what they have and not ask for more, or ANA might just decide to not bother next time.... Just saying. Be grateful!

Sometimes I do wonder why airlines bother honoring these. I mean, even Swiss has gone all the way to court over this, and in the end, they're the winners. The airline is still profitable and highly regarded even without mistake fare fliers. They even block F award space to Star Alliance with no repercussion. The people that book mistake fares aren't exactly valuable clients, either.

Updating my own post:

My original booking was also in the "Purchased/not ticketed" state. My first call to ANA over the weekend resulted in the phone agent saying they will not honor the fare. The price on the reservation was subsequently altered to $4000+.

Today, I received a voicemail from the ANA US office saying they will indeed honor the fare, and asked me to call the 1-800 number to confirm the booking. I provided payment info over the phone, and my itinerary was then confirmed and ticketed.

This was a nice surprise! ^ An honorable, above-and-beyond gesture!

No go for me, still sitting at purchased/not ticketed. Just called into ANA and was routed to there Japan call center and they wanted an additional $4500 to issue the ticket. I'll give it another shot tomorrow, maybe the USA/Canada call centers are more generous?

Spent time with rep tonight about change options. She said 1) if theres an airline schedule change, and it doesnt work for yr schedule, can change to fly diff time, but has to b same date of original ticket. Hello, expert flyer app. 2) if you want to canx flight there is a $500ish cx fee, not waived at this time. Said they had a memo about this today and she spoke with mgmt while I was on hold. At this time, they aren't looking for 'volunteers' to take refunds to open the space for higher rev passengers. 3)request for stopover would cost $450 (as a change in the tix) plus $100 stopover fee

I was routed to the Japan call center for both of my calls. Though the voice mail message I received today came from a US number.

Thanks for the encouraging data point! I guess I just need to wait and hope I get a call

I certainly try and stay away from LX as much as I can. They're just aholes in my opinion, not only because of RGN, but general behavior (on the ground, no complaints in the air).

I have some warm, fuzzy feelings towards ANA and Delta for their approach though.

What a graceful gesture!

All Nippon Airways is indeed a very honorable company.

Can segments be upgraded using AC AP?
