Hope its to ask in here - but any good airport hotels in Seattle and something nice in the city in Vancouver?

I know this is HIGHLY subjective but is it worth it to upgrade to F on this segment?

I don't have UA miles so would need to transfer a 50K Ultimate Rewards to cover the cost.

I did look at the one way cost difference from J to F and it's looks like it would be a great redemption but just curious what y'all thought.

I was curious about this too. Would the wiki be a good place to share tips on transit hotels, bus vs. train going to/from NRT/HND, Australia ETA's, UBER vs. subway in Sydney, sim cards, etc. Curious where everyone is going to stay too.

I've flown NH F twice, and I've never flown J.

F was great. The "crowded" time, the cabin was booked 5 of 8, and service was stellar. The other time, it was me, my friend, and another guy. The service was stellar.

My YVR-HND flight is currently J1. I don't think service is going to be nearly as good as a full F cabin, not to mention food/drinks/seat/lounge/etc.

I would personally upgrade it (hence why I did), but I wouldn't use UR points for it. I think I value a UR point at more than 2 Aeroplan points (especially given my balance), so I'd rather drop 50k Aeroplan than 25k UR.

You could try coupon connection (if you're eligible) to see if anyone else might be willing to offer up 25k UA miles.

I'm a little annoyed I didn't route through SFO/LAX for my outbound, as I would have upgraded both ways.

Although it's a relatively short flight, if you can find the space, I would highly recommend it for the experience if nothing else. My justification was if I wanted to fly NH F otherwise, it would cost a LOT more miles or $$$.

We have different opinions on this

There are some helpfull informations about NRT/HND transfer in the Japan section. But it depends where you are staying (which depends what you want to see in Tokyo and how much time you spend there etc)

And mine are all around 9 hours - personal I do like them longer then 12 hours aswell...makes sleeping much easier if you want to enjoy the meal service and catching some quality sleep (on flights were it makes sense to do so)

In the grand scheme of things, NRT-SFO is one of the shorter trans-pacific flights. Looking at my ticket it says 9h15m, but you're right, lately it's been taking quite a bit longer and add in the ground time...you're right at 12h for BIS time

I also noticed 'O' inventory dried up for a lot of days...

Never flew F on any airlines before so I have nothing to compare to. Tempting to drop 50k AP.

And is it not possible to upgrade the HND-SYD leg?

For the record, there was no O space on my flight when I completed the Star Alliance upgrade.

I don't think it's as simple as "O space" for availability.

What class did it book into for you? That's actually really interesting and good news if true. Mine required O and booked into O; wouldn't even let the request go through without it for my other one

It books into O, but that's not the same thing as requiring O.

For example, to upgrade Air Canada Y/B fares, you need P space available, but it books you into R when it's confirmed.

I know for a fact that there was no O space on my flight when I upgraded mine, because it was the first thing I checked too.
