Flight Changes
Many changes have been made due to Etihad schedule changes. In some cases, connecting flights are being swapped to nonstops. Some have been able to get this changed back by calling Etihad, others have not. You may have to repeat call / HUCA to get it switched back.

Update 12/28/14: Etihad will honor the fare per Forbes article.

Grand Mosque [wiki] [map]
Kayak the mangroves [trip advisor] [map]
Ferrari World [trip advisor] [map]
Dune bashing/camel ride [trip advisor]

Hotels:
Qsar al Sarab

For JNB/CPT:
- use uber (safe and cheap) / if you travel to Sandton(JNB): use Gautrain from Airport. / review travel advise and do's/don'ts for traveling in JNB city.
- Tons of cheap flights btw CPT and JNB. Always use booking portals like orbitz, skyscanner, etc. to find good fares (for example on Kulula, BA, SAA, Mango, etc.)

MNL (Manila):
Ask on FT (in Destinations) - There are too many islands and beaches in the Philippines to list here.

I am in the same situation for a flight to Mumbai from JFK originally on the AA-code shares; Etihad of course, changed the routing to its JFK-AUA non-stop and will not allow me to change it back. Loss of brief stopover in CDG in both directions and loss of AAdvantage miles for the entire itinerary.
Yes, and my co-worker as well, who booked the same trip in the opposite direction for a week before I went. We booked through Vayama, and other than moving up our departure from Paris from 10:00 a.m. to 9:25 a.m., we flew exactly what we ticketed on Christmas morning. I was worried my 5 days in Paris was going to be turned into 6 days in Abu Dhabi, but nothing like that ever happened.

Earlier in the thread people had asked what to do with the miles. Some had given suggestions if you didn't use them or want them to expire.
I took about 10 minutes and redeemed it for a $100 Amazon card. Very easy and shipping to the US 10-15 days.
~15k=$100 card, ~7500=$50 card. So don't forget about a bonus besides a nice vacation.

Sounds like they're leaving our STOPOVERS alone... very different than those with CONNECTIONS.

Thanks for the report.

They changed my ORD-DUB/DUB-AUH-ORD itinerary as to be unflyable and then when I called to amend, informed me that they would not be honoring the tickets. I filed DOT complaint.

I did get it electronically within 1 hr after I logged out. So I would expect that's how they do it now.

the staff was not friendly at all on Jet Airways plane. they didn't even smile - not sure if other people noticed as well. I have flown emirates and there is no comparison
what is wrong with Vegetarian food options. Over 3/4ths of the population on these flights are ferrying pax from North America to the Indian sub continent. So it is natural that these flights are stocked with Indian/ Vegetarian and spicier food options. As posted before, if you have specific food preferences, order for a special meal.

By definition it's not a food option if it is mandatory.

I had read that it's only vegetarian on the Jet Airways. Did anyone else have the same experience? I am lucky to have been able to upgrade my AUH-JFK leg to business.

nothing wrong with vegetarian. I have flown other airlines where they have one veggie and one meat option which in my opinion anyone with a good business sense would do and makes sense logically but i could be wrong

The return leg now arrives AUH at 6 am and leaves AUH 3 hours earlier at 3am. They told me they would not fix it because it's an error fare and that if I wanted a refund I should call Vayama.

On my Jet flight from AUH - JFK, I had meat options in economy both meals.

Strange, must be a YMMV type deal. Unless they ran out of meat options by the time they got to poster?

I am sincerely dreading the JFK-AUH leg in coach, the longest flight I have ever taken is JFK-MXP and that's half of the time in a plane as JFK-AUH. I had originally booked JFK-MAN-AUH to break it up. I have never taken a sleep aid and I am debating it.
