I was at CLE for the Aer Lingus festivities. Check-in was at the common use counters to the right of Alaska Airlines ticket counters. TSA Pre-check was not available. Baggage claim is carousel 3 and business class passengers use the United Club. Gate was C8. Inbound flight was a few minutes late and was greeted with a water cannon salute. Ground handling was painfully slow on both flights, resulting in a one hour nine minute delay on the departing flight. The new contracted staff were very, very careful and that slowed things down greatly. There were speeches by all the dignitaries, Irish, step dancers, and a harpist, plus a delicious cake.

Excellent reporting. Now, let's support this link to Europe.

Anybody have experience picking up late night rental cars? Enterprise and national show hours of 07:00-23:59. Anybody have luck picking up cars after midnight?

It’s been a week and still CLE airport website has NO reference to the CLE-DUB nonstop flight. The flight arrival/departures section doesn’t even list the flight, nor does the airport terminal map have the airline listed for the C Concourse. What to make of this?

Mayhaps Irish eyes aren't smiling?

I actually emailed the airport about this, and they stated they would forward the concerns to IT. Aer Lingus does now appear as one of the airlines servicing CLE and DUB is listed as one of CLE‘s destinations served. There is also now a news release about the service, but the flight still does not appear on the flight tracker or flight status pages. Frustrating to say the least. Maybe things will change with the new airport Director who started this week.

Just seems like a lost opportunity to highlight nonstop Dublin service. Even at the airport the signage wasn’t updated showing where EIN was (C Concourse). With poor handling of just one international nonstop, easy to market and celebrate, it’s no wonder we lost the hub! Time to turn management of CLE over to MetroParks or similar entity.

^ It must be that CLE feels nobody uses their website. They seem to pay more attention to Twitter.

Well the website is pretty useless... Every time I visit it the check on the one thing I think the website might be more useful than other sources for (e.g real-time. parking status/availability) I leave sorely disappointed ... And when I google it the closest I find is a press release announcing that parkinginfo is on the airports website... From ~2017

Question An Americanism forgotten

Could | Should it have chosen a different number for the flight?
"Being 86'd" has a certain negative connoitation to which Aer Lingus might not want to provide any substance.

Now CLE hasn’t even updated the fact that Air Canada departs from A1! What a mess our airport is.

It looks like gate A1 was only for a day or two. Tomorrow and Saturday are showing the regular C20.

I've heard rumors that UA is not excited about renewing ground handling contracts for AC systemwide (and that in CLE AC was likely to go from UA-handled to Swissport-handled both ATW and BTW. Not sure if AC actually leases C20 from the city or if UA has been "hosting" them -- if that rumor is accurate and has come to pass it would make sense for AC to operate from gates Swissport already handles to minimize the need for dragging staff and equipment across the airport.

Or it could be any number of benign temporary reasons like jetway issues, etc. -- though if (since?) UA is providing handling why not use one of the closer UA gates -- it's not like utilization is anywhere near 100% most of the time most days.
