Just a short question:

I have an upcoming stay starting at 9/22 until 9/24 (2nights), so the first night is actually not within the promotion period but the second night is. As my promo is based on "stays" instead of "nights"; do i still get "stay credit" for that stay or not as my check-in date is not in the promotion period? Splitting the nights into two seperate reservations is not an option, as i want to use a 100 Euro Bonus Certifcate.

Anyone else have this problem - cannot register online:

First I get this message:
It's the travel opportunity of a lifetime!
Register by January 18, 2008 for up to 10,000 MegaBonus points
Then, when I click on a link, I get this message:
Unavailable

We could not register you in the MegaBonus promotion at this time. Please contact 1-888-MARRIOTT (627-7468) for assistance
This has happened for several days now (haven't call them yet), but I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

I didn't have the promo on the website, then I called to register and I was automatically registered for the 35k/20n. After that I logged back in and say the 10k promo and when I tried to click on it to see more details, I got the same message you did. The next day that 10k promo wasn't there anymore, instead I appeared registered for the 35k promo, which I'm much, much happier with.

As a MR GOLD, I just got a promo for 25k, 15 nights...

Think status plays a part in this? Silver 10k, Gold 25k, Plat 35k????

Just a thought

I think it is based more on a particular stay pattern. Basically, those that have stayed more within the past year or so, will get the higher end offers. Those who have stayed a moderate amount over the past year or so will get the middle offers. Those who have stayed fewer nights will get the low end offers. This will, generally, translate into exactly what you suggest (Plats get the high, Golds get the middle, Silvers get the low.)

Yup. I'm Plat, but I've spent a grand total of 3 paid nights at Marriotts this year, so I got the crappiest offer (3 stays for 5000 extra pts). for me, but fairly understandable...

Exact same thing here. So I called the number given, and it was an automated sign-up system. Signed me up for 25K/15 stays (5K per each 3 stays). I'm a MR Gold.

I agree with the first part - it is based on a particular stay pattern. I disagree with the second part. I don't think it's meant to reward past stays as much as it is meant to encourage future stays. Plats don't necessarily get the highest point offers, then Golds, then Silvers. I am a good counter example. The majority of my stays are longer (with randomly scattered short stays). Last year, as a Plat I got the 10k promo (2.5k/stay starting with the second stay, up to 10k). This year, I called and I was registered for the 35k/20n promo. However, on the "main" MR website I see the 10k promo advertised eve,n though when I go to my account I see that I am registered for the 35k. The website wanted me to register for the 10k. (There seems to be a discrepancy here - I think this phone line is linked differently to the account.) Because I have longer stays, I think they wanted to encourage me to have more stays (which would bring them more business), as opposed to wanting me to clock more nights, which I do anyway.

There must be other variables into this equation. It's not just how many nights one has acquired this year, but also the average length of stay, type of property, etc.

I think you misunderstood my point. The point is, in general, a Plat becomes a Plat because they stay a lot of nights. And someone who stays a lot of nights will tend to get the higher end Megabonus promo. A Gold tends to stay more nights than others, but in general, less than a Plat. Therefore, a Gold will tend to get the middle offers. A Silver tends to stay less nights per year than both a Plat or a Gold and will thus tend to get the lowest end offers.

In all cases, there can and will be Plats, Golds, and Silvers that will get other offers because their stay patterns may not fit the "in general" mode (i.e. as mentioned by one Plat poster who didn't stay very many nights within the last year and didn't receive the highest promo offer.)

Thumbs down Too many nights required to use up the points for Award stays!

I got the 25K for 15 nitghts as a Gold.

I became Plat on the 12 month basis of 75 nights recently with some longer stays, last year and this year. Also, there were quite a few 1-2 night stays in the past year.
I had only 70 nights for this year alone, but will add to that with a stay in Oct. Plus will use three weeks of Awards.

I is a real problem to get nights for quality for top Elite status and use up a plane load of points to get the Elite status!

No one has answered this question. I have the same question but I am on the 35K/20 nights program. I have the same situation.

Any thoughts
