I think Marriott will announce at least after Jul.20 which SPG last buy due day.

I wouldn't be surprised if they only announce it after they stop selling them.

I think that's good news, but always possible they will pull the rug out from underneath us.

ok that was a waste of a hour I will never get back. Which number do you suggest calling. I called the number of the Marriott page and they do not know what is going on over there. First told dialed wrong number, the website was wrong. Then told I did dial right as things has changed. Then got my hotel set up and when they tried to price the points the total was wrong. Then they passed me to someone who said I could not get a 5 night rewards as I was NOT a MVC owners.

So I bailed on a 1 hr call, and I will have to do it again. Anyone else having issues on a 5 night.

Uh oh. I have not but I was certainly hoping to try this out myself over the weekend. As I understand, it's up to the rep as to whether this goes through or not. Maybe HUCA?

You can get an agent to attach a 7 night certificate for a shorter stay... not a problem.

would you advise the agent as you are making the booking or just let the hotel know as you check in?

How did they inform you? Are you based in US?

Wow. I have not heard of that happening. Was it taken away after you tried to book a stay? Or just after the purchase?

Did they give you a full refund of the Marriott points redeemed, after they took away your 5-night certificate ?

The two DP I've seen on reddit had their points refunded after calling in to get their account unlocked.

Au contraire... if they're planning to screw us with a mere 45K refund, then it's in their interest to keep that quiet so we keep ordering TPs under the current rules...

I don't have a huge amount of faith in any loyalty program, but I have enough faith in Marriott that I'm willing to gamble with one floating certificate that this will not happen.

If they did this, that would be a Hall of Fame level d*ck move.

I still believe that if you have a Cat 5 today, you're going to wake up on August 1st with a "new" Cat 4. You'll be materially whole, looking at attaching it to the same quality level of hotels, subject to the category changes that go into effect on that day.

That one is easy to predict, it's some of the other ones where things get dicey.
And of course we have no idea when is the deadline to buy the current packages or if they will still allow upgrades after the current ones are discontinued.

After a certificate has been attached to a reservation, what happen if we cancel the reservation online? Will we get the certificate back automatically?
