Very interesting...either the site did not update yet...or they decided to keep me at PLT Premier.

My level was updated on-line over last weekend (PLT Premier to PLT) and I got my card yesterday. I was at 125 nites in '05 and only 75 in '06.

I'm happy with my Platinum Elite. I've learn that most upscale MR hotels upgrade to this priority 1.How many time you had stay with them (this will help you more than your status) 2. Your room rate and then status (mainly status just help you with club access)

Platinum Premier
What is it? How do you get it and what are the benefits?
|
There is a long thread on platinum premier here.
As an unpublished level, there is no publicly listed criteria for getting platinum premier. |
No real benifit other than a dedicated phone line.
|
Once in a very rare while, someone recognizes you as a Platinum Premier and they know it is the highest recognized level, but this has happened to me only once. So other than the dedicated line, not much. However, the people staffed on the dedicate line are quite courteous, helpful and seem to be well trained and I don't believe I've ever had to wait on hold. This is a benefit I appreciate.

I've never understood why it says Platinum Premier on my lifetime membership card, yet my online account simply shows Platinum. I assume I'm platinum, not platinum premier - yet I had one hotel manager address me as a platinum premier.

I don't mean to be difficult, but this is not true. It's picked from the top 2% of platniums and other factors are considered as well. In fact, last year, I stayed on 75 nights but retained my PP status. There is no 100 night requirement either.

Plat. Premier is a level that is in the Marriott System that requires at least 100 nights at a Marriott hotel/Resort. What doesnt seem to be well published is that to be given the "Premier" designation you have to be in the top 1% of all Marriott spenders. This is no easy feat. At the resort that I work at we have 5 people that stay with just MY resort over 80 nights per year (and easily passing 100 nights in Marriott's worldwide), but only 2 of them are premier members. But yes....when a premier member comes in, our staff gets out the chap-stick and gets ready to kiss some ....

Top spenders, or top 2% of stays? I'm usually on a corporate discount ($85/night at CY), but have wondered if the discount actually hurts my changes of PP...
|
PP is based on the top percentile of PLT members, number of nights, number of stays, and years as a PLT member.

I'm assuming Plat Premier is similar to UGS on UA. Revenue being one of the main factors, along w/ the other stuff. I'm fine w/ my Plat Lifetime status, and have no problem w/ a PP getting more stuff than me. Not sure they do, but if someone has chapstick or lipgloss for them they deserve it.
I tend to believe the Marriott employees who post on this thread re: what it is, what it takes to get there, than those who guess or just throw out a bunch of stuff. Not basing that comment towards anyone who's posted in particular, just a general observation. I usually believe the staffers overall, short of them really being clueless ;) :) Cheers. |
