Are you saying it is a joke because you haven't been given Plat Premier status or because you don't think it has any real benefits?

If you don't think it has any real "teeth" for benefits, then fair enough. Others may or may not agree.

If though you think it is a joke just because you weren't invited, you might want take a moment and look at some of the various threads on this topic here in the Marriott forum. From the various experiences others have brought to FT (i.e. some have been staying 200 nights for many years before "getting in"), it shouldn't come as a surprise that even some of those with 100+ nights for multiple years might not make it. Look at at the post just before yours. It looks like the requirements take into account more than just "nights" per year, but also revenue generation.

It has been my experience that the Platinum Premier members are some of the most delightful guests that I have had the opportunity to serve. There are so few PP guests that it is actually rare to have one in-house.

While there are no written benefits for this level, the entire hotel is on high-alert to ensure absolutely every aspect of the guest's experience is top-notch.

As a PLT Premier, thank you so much for your very, very kind words above.

I wish more hotels (in Marriott) had the same attitude towards PP's - quite honestly, most could care less. Its really amazing sometimes the way one is spoken to. The stories I could tell...

Again, my sincere thanks for your very nice words above.

Ah, that would explain why I get such crappy service - just a lowly Platnium. Nobody on high alert when I show up. ;)

Just kidding, just kidding. I actually seem to be one of the few people on this board who like Marriott. :p

I am starting my 2nd year as a Plantinum Premier and I have to say it has made absolutely no difference to the way I'm treated 95% of the time. The interesting part, is that the 5% of the time that I am treated differently is usually in the "out of the way" hotels.

Case in point: this week, I am at the Marriott CY in San Jose. Checked in and went to my room, no Platinum gift. I called the front desk and they said "oops, we will take care of it". 10 minutes later they called and told me to come down to the front desk and get my gift. :(

Ran out of kleenex on Tuesday morning. Asked at the front desk for another box, Tuesday night, no kleenex. Called the front desk, they said they would send it right up. No kleenex. Bought my own the next day.

Couple of weeks ago, I stayed at the CY in Wilkes-Barre, PA. When I checked in, they welcomed me as a Plat Premier and every day there was a message on my voice mail from the hotel manager making sure everything was ok.

IMHO, this "special" level isn't worth anything....

Platinum Premier - No Longer Listed as Separate Level

This is interesting. PLT Premier is no longer listed as a separate level on Marriott website. Has anyone else noticed this? It just lists Silver, Gold and Platinum.

ohmark Feb 28, 2007 7:06 am

I don't remember it ever being separately listed. Am I wrong? It makes sense not to list separately because there are no published/listed benefits or qualification guidelines that are different from plat. Sort of like getting a gold star on your forehead in elementary school. Somebody may treat you differently because of a perceived difference, but there is no official benefit difference (except, a pp telephone line). My guess is that a particular property that goes out of their way to ensure nothing goes wrong with a plat's stay, even more goes out of their way in respect to pp's. I think it's more a matter of property and perception.

I don't recall it ever being listed separately.

Likewise join the chorus of never seeing it mentioned on the Marriott website at all...

No longer showing on my account page either.......:( Looks like I lost the status.

I took the OP to mean listed as a separate classification on the Marriott Rewards opening website page, not on your particular account page.

Lowest in a while.....around 110 nights (without the 15 from the cc) and average was in the $100 - $120 range.

debua1k Feb 28, 2007 11:43 am

I stayed 79 nights at an average of about $120 per night. I was way down from my average this year... I am showing Platinum...:(
