I was told to make reservations through the Platinum Premier desk and not by signing into your account at Marriott.com. Of course kind of to contradict this, is the fact that on the international trips I highlighted above I did have to call the PP desk about the res, yet the problems noted. On-line I can see all the available rates and make my decisions on what to book, not sure why I'd want to bring another person into the equation. Same reason I stopped using the corporate travel agent the day an on-line system was rolled out. As I said, I've had some good experiences and some pretty poor ones, but I got it directly from the GM's mouth that his staff didn't know what X4 meant. |
FYI, I called the PP desk today and they said, if you make a res the same day they will call the hotel, otherwise there is no difference if you make the res online.

Case 1: His car was vandalized while parked on Marriott property (someone put eggs, soap, etc all over the vehicle). When he arrived at his car in the morning; he found a couple Marriott staff people by his car...they just finished washing it!
1. I personally wash it and dry it (good 2 hour affair and 1.5 of that is drying) 2. My regular detailing shop is detailing my car |

Off topic here to some extent...but if that happened to me and my personal car was washed, I'd throw a sh*tfit on them and demand they have my car detailed at my regular detailing shop to get rid of all the microscratches they put in the finish. Knowing what I know now about car washing....There are only 2 situations where my car gets washed...

Back on topic. They have still not zeroed out from last year. As with others above I was platinum for 6 years before making PP in 2006 for the first time. With 222 nights in 2006 hopefully it will carry over to 2007. Time will tell.

PP or any level shouldn't make should any difference except for stated benefits. Platinum Premier members are our most-exclusive—and most appreciated—guests. They are an exclusive group of discerning travelers whose loyalty to Marriott is rewarded with the highest level of service we can provide. |

Sorry, being treated better is the benefit of PP, per Marriott's own web-site:
So Marriott says all customers are not equal, and PP's are more appreciated. Now unless you say 'plat' level of serivice is the highest they can provide it would also suggest that a PP's experience at any Marriott should be at least slightly better than a Plat's. :D |
I just joined Flyertalk after lurking for a couple months and I'm a newly minted Platinum Premier as of Today^ .

BigYellowDog congratulations on attaining PP status. It isn't easy, I'm sure. And also, welcome to FT and the Marriott forum in particular. There is definitely a ton of info here. As your looking around if you have questions, feel free to ask questions. And we look forward to your input into this community as well. :)

My number of nights this year (2007) have been reset sometime in the last 12 hours ( I only log on twice a day !)
I have retained my Platinum Premier status |
Well, I guess this year isn't it :(
MR Psychephylax Current point balance: 658,326 Elite membership level: Platinum Additional nights needed to maintain Platinum: 68 Nights stayed this year: 7 Account number: xxxxxxx Earning preference: Points  Congrats to those who made it and retained it! :D |
Whatever- I don't get my self esteem from Marriott or any other travel program. This is Marriott after all....a very middle of the road but acceptable business travel hotel. I usually go to the Four Seasons when I want the very best....no points needed. People want to know what the difference is between the two levels. Marriott saying you will be treated 'the best' is the only statement they make. What that means is up for debate. All I can say is that I can identify when a property does something because I'm PP and I can tell when they are just treating me like another Plat. In my experience (160 nights in the last year) I only see the PP level about 20% of the time. |

Ok, that's what it's about. I'm sure if AA didn't provide you with your EXP benefits you'd just say 'if I wanted that upgrade I would just pay for an F ticket'.

Made Platinum Premier with 140 nights
Not sure if its something to be proud of. I've been Platinum for the last 4 years and with 140 paid nights last year, just promoted to Platinum Premier this year!
