I made it to PP after staying for 157 nights in 2006. I've been Platinum since 2003.
|
Thanks for all the welcomes.
I had 161 nights last year and I've been Platinum for 3 or 4 years now with over 100+ nights each year. |

Plt Prmr LISTEN CLOSELY
Obviously I work @ a Marriott and I'm so sick and tired of hearing complaints about not being upgraded as "promised." Okay, firstly, NO ONE should be promising ANYTHING to you, and if they DO, then oops..they are wrong! If you stay more than one night, GOOD LUCK on getting an upgrade, for you ALLLLL seem to be forgetting it is depending on availability! Don't forget it! I'm tired of hearing you cry!

For the agent who told Bguild that the magic formula is 200 nights, that sure isn't right. 218 night so far this year and no PP for me. Anyone know if there's a number I can call to try and get this? I don't feel like reading through 9 pages of text.
Who are Platinum Premier Members? Marriott Rewards Elite members – Silver, Gold and Platinum – have earned a level of service that differentiates them from other guests. Now, the bar has been moved even higher by identifying the most prestigious of all Elite members – Platinum Premier members. The Premier distinction is reserved for the top percentile of Marriott Rewards Platinum Elite members based on room nights, number of stays and years as a Platinum member. These special guests are our most highly valued guests who consistently demonstrate exceptional loyalty to Marriott Brands by making Marriott their exclusive hotel choice whenever and wherever they travel. They are our most important guests – in a category of their own – and as such they deserve our greatest recognition and appreciation. What Does Platinum Premier Mean to Members? Special designation – the Premier designation demonstrates to this select group of Platinum members their value to Marriott. It enables us to quickly identify them as our most important guests and to make their needs our top priority. Platinum Premier Desk – Platinum Premier members have access to an exclusive membership line for personalized assistance with all their Marriott travel needs. At the Platinum Premier Desk (1-877-XXXXXXX) a special team of representatives is dedicated to serving Platinum Premier members – with One-Stop-Shop service – and providing personalized assistance with reservations, hotel or partner award redemptions, or handling any other need regarding their Marriott Rewards account. Recognition and service – by differentiating Platinum Premier members from other Platinum members, front desk associates are able to consistently provide a higher level of personalized service and recognition at check-in and during the guest’s stay (for example, ensuring Platinum Premier members are given top priority for room/suite upgrades). What Do Platinum Premier Members Mean to Marriott? The loyalty and retention of Platinum Premier members is essential to maintaining our competitive edge and financial success in today’s unpredictable market. Platinum Premier members demonstrate unparalleled loyalty to Marriott Brands. This contributes to success in many areas – i.e., repeat business, guest satisfaction, market leadership, increased RevPar and financial gain. It is important to realize you may not know the Platinum Premier member who is checking in at your hotel tonight – unlike your hotel’s best guests who stay with you often. While it continues to be important to take care of your hotel’s best guests, Platinum Premier members have top priority over all other guests based on the valuable business they generate for Marriott Brands. |

Gosh ! .
Why are you all being so hard on TucsonMarriottGuy ? He is only stating the obvious. Upgrades are a concession and cannot be available to us, if all the better rooms are already booked for full rates ! I normally get well treated wherever I go, and my most regular hotel gives me my preferred upgrade consistently. However sometimes I get just a regular room there because they are fully booked. I don't complain - they look after me when they can, but if somebody is paying a 50%-100% premium for a better room, then I understand - they are running a business. The detail TucsonMarriottGuy has posted is better than anything I have seen on this forum before, and I think makes it clear that Platinum Premier is reward for consistent loyalty rather than a formula based on nights. I had been at Platinum Level for 10 straight years before I got the Platinumn Premier level. So far this year I am currently staying in an out of London Marriott hotel (unusual for me) and I know they are treating me as a special guest - best rooms, personal messages fruit basket........ If next week when I arrive they give me an ordinary room I will be disappointed, but I will not mind - The corporate rate I am paying is well below their rack rate for a normal room. Thank you TucsonMarriottGuy for posting the detailed information. |
TOMSURFER,
I completely agree with you, but I believe the quarrellings were over the attitude in the message and not the content TucsonMarriottGuy was conveying. However, we have to remember that this is not a Marriott support forum and Marriott Employees have their own gripes as well. But here is the real question. Does a Marriott employee griping in these forums convey a bad level of customer service? That is up to each individual using these forums to to decide, but I suspect Marriott corporate would not approve as they will always want to show a good face to the customer. |
FINALLY ... the PP Formula!!!!
Drumroll .....
There isn't one. MW PP's are a HAND Selected portion (2-3%) of MW Platniums. They are selected for any number of criteria including *Years as a Platinum *Recent Annual Totals *An annual average of stays *ADDITIONAL revenue created for a hotel, such as dining, conference rooms, Internet, etc, etc, etc * Whether your name was that of their 'first love' ... or any other number of random 'qualifications' TYPICALLY (not always) as long as Platinum level nights are maintained annually, the status will not be revoked. This came in a first hand conversation with an unnamed Marriott employee close to the administration of the PP selection process My response "So, it's a status created to drive Platniums to spend MORE money." He only laughed :) What does MW PP get you? Officially, a special phone number (which is answered no faster than a regular Platnium line) Unofficially, and not communicated as clearly as it should be, you should be upgraded to their BEST available room during the duration of your stay, AT CHECK-IN. I tend to do my research, I will call the hotel almost immediately before checking in, not associating myself with the reservation in any manner, and ask what their best available room is for dates XX - XX. When I ask for an upgrade and am told none exists, I politely inform them that as of 15 minutes ago, XX room was available. 9 out of 10 times, this resolves the matter immediately. Tuscon ... while the 'policy' documents 'suites' are not included, practice demonstrates differently. A popular phrase in the legal world is "Practice precedes policy." Judges and mediators across the country practice this policy fervently, especially in employment and contract disputes. Your policy means nothing if your practice otherwise. In effect, your practice becomes policy. Btw, I have been a MW Platnium since 2001, but have never exceeded 150 nights a year, but have been a MW PP since 2004 |
