What exactly makes the WSJ app "crappy"? It works fine for me.
It's like United taking away the 2 annual CR1s for MillionMilers & replacing them with a 'spouse/SO' benefit - ie, they get your status. If one doesn't have a 's/so' or there are 2 MMs in their own right that are 1K for example, they've replaced a benefit that was given to all & replaced it with one that is relatively useless.

As I write this I am staying at the Manchester UK airport marriott. (Over 75 nights here alone)
And no special bath robe, fruit basket, wine etc. So sometimes staying internationally (outside north america) makes no difference.

You should be a top 50 guest at that property, and you need to introduce yourself to the front desk manager and the GM. Anyone staying that much at one hotel should not be blown off.

It does vary by property and I haven't had any special treatment at all there either.

I agree that someone who stays at a property (any property) 75 nights a year should make an effort to meet the GM/FDS. Can't hurt; could help in terms of getting a bit extra. Having said that, this property gets mediocre reviews by FTers, so perhaps that's coming from the GM's policies/CS.

So you are suggesting that as a Plat or PP, every time we stay at a hotel we should say hello...
I took the comment to be that if you stay at a particular hotel for 75+ nights within a single year it might not hurt to get to know the front desk and/or management team a little better. Doing so might have a positive effect on how you are treated. |

BTW - menu prices have nothing to do w/ PP bennies, the topic of the thread. ;) Cheers. |

I didn't read that at all.

I would hope that if any one guest stays in anyone hotel even 50 nights in one year that the GM better make it his/her duty to make sure that guest is well known around the property and well taken care of.
If you will be frequenting someplace for a large number of nights, it can only help you to get to know the FDCs and if possible the management of that hotel. At the worst, they should treat their repeat customers very well. At the best, they might treat their repeat customers who they "like" a lot better when they can. |

I agree with you, but I still think Sharon's post is valid as well.

I have a question though, how many of us (a guess, by percentage) actually have stays at one or more hotels per year of 50 nights plus each? I know there are some on site consultants, especially computer consultants, who are assigned to one client company at one location for long periods of time, but how many have one or more stays of 50 nights per year, year in, and year out? |

Yes, after I was rightly corrected on my misread of Sharon's post, I also agree.

I am just one person, but I can say for work that this is my case. I have been to only 5 hotels for work in the past 5 years. And 4 of them were for over 150 nights a year in the same hotel. Probably not the case for most people, but I have met many other people who are also at the same hotel every week for many months or longer, we all commiserate together. I can also say that in all but one of these hotel, the staff and manager been so nice, and so fun and interesting to talk with. They have alway gone out of their way to say hi and make sure things are okay.

when building to own a Hyatt project (which included $1M+ residential units to be managed by Hyatt) in Sharm, I had to travel to Sharm at least once a week, generally only for a night each, but stays were at one of the former Hilton's and paid directly by company so no points/stay credits over a 2-yr period so it does happen............similar experiences in Jubail and Kuwait City............

Different question raised by your post....although I can understand why you did not receive points credit for those nights, but why didn't you receive room nights credit? |

150 nights in one hotel? Wow, I hope your company treats you REAL well. That would be a huge example of where a suite upgrade (and a nice view) would make a huge difference to me, to combat true claustrophobia!
I love my job, and I love my company. But the travel does get old. Actually, I usually don't get a suite upgrade, though I have been staying at an all suite hotel for a while which is nice. The best part is there are usually the same people on my flights every week too, though we all work for different places. But I have made many commuter friend along the way to. |
Requalification?
How and when do I learn whether I've requalified for PP? (I hate to ask, but I've searched this thread for requalify, requal, and requaification and didn't find much.) My nights (actual, not counting rollover, are way over a hundred) and spend are up slightly this year, so I'm not sure how much I need to worry, but I'd rather not wait to see what type of card/packet I receive in the mail around March 1. I assume that the words "Platinum Premier" on my account refer to the 2012 program year and won't convey any information before March 1. I've never noticed that MR lists "future status" anywhere the way some airline programs do, but is there somewhere I can look for that? Does Marriott send an email when PP requalifications have been determined? If so, do they just notify one if it's good news or do they inform those who haven't made the cut?

If anyone is interested, when you reach Lifetime PLT status you will not "see it" until you fail to make PLT on stays then it "kicks" |
