Marriott explicitly tells us how to transfer points to a spouse or domestic partner. Marriott apparently, based on experiences described here, will also transfer points between other people (other than spouses or partners). Such transfers are not explicitly permitted but may be implicitly permitted -- and, at a minimum, are not prohibited (especially because Marriott does them!). So let's stop arguing about this, please. It's time to move on.

I think everyone is missing the point here. T&C (emphasis mine):

You can transfer your points to your legal spouse or domestic partner at time of reward redemption provided he or she is also a Marriott Rewards member.

You can't transfer points in the traditional sense as far as I'm aware, all you can do is pool points for an immediate redemption. Completely different as the latter doesn't count toward lifetime status...

anyway, this isn't that thread so enough hijacking ;)

Platinum Premier Status Being Updated!

My status went from Platinum to Platinum Premier!

Thought I missed out for this year.. Guess Not

Same here, but sadly the only "useful" additional hard benefit (20% off in restaurant) has been eliminated last year already, so I will have to see if any other thing will make this worthwhile. First shot: got the same upgrade at a Ren in Germany for tomorrow that I got early December as Plat (upg. already showing in my reservation).

Greetings - Dirk

Maybe that is a difference between PP and regular Plat, that upgrades show up in online rez histories for PP, but not for Plats?

I have seen upgrades show up in advance many times on my husband's reservations and he's a vamilla plat. I think that is a hotel by hotel thing.

I am kind of jealous that so many PP and platinum's get so many upgrades (especially the suite upgrades). The biggest upgrade I have ever gotten was the concierge level. O.O

As stated by a FDM(?), sometimes you gotta ask! Not all properties are forthcoming with program beneifts. :(

It also depends on where you stay. Some properties have more upgrades to give out. Renaissance LAX has a decent number of junior suites, Orlando Marriott World Center has a lot of suites (about 10 % of all rooms although they can be sold out if they get a large convention as a resort property), and Portland Marriott City Center has corner rooms and higher level rooms with views (they have suites but I have never gotten one as a free upgrade).

I was (pleasantly) shocked to discover I made Platinum Premier (for the first time) when I logged into my account today. I am hoping it is not a temporary glitch!

Thank you to my Fairy Godmother who made this happen:)

Will be checking in to a JW tomorrow so I will see if I notice a difference:D

Please report back.

Also, it seems that PP begins as soon as it appears on your account, with no waiting for the new program year on March 1 (or when you get the card).

As it does for all status increases, valid when earned/appointed. Now let's not discuss if PP is an increase or not...

Yes, but isn't it a question about whether LT status appears on MR web profiles at sign on? Has anyone seen any version of LIFETIME before Plat, Gold, Silver on marriott.com, once they have been awarded LT status after not making status renewal for any given year?
