Actually the tier nights for Plat and PP is 75. At least that's what it suppose to be since there is no nights tier for PP.

There is no defined tier, but it has been discussed here previously that they will take 100 vs. 75 rollover nights on a FIFO basis if you are given PP. Several have described their unsuccessful attempts to be taken back "up" to "just" Plat in order to re-coup the rollovers.

UPDATE: Seems I was using outdated info. As posted here: (see post 25 & 26) http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/marri...over-gone.html - it seems rollovers were deducted at 75 for both plat and PP.

That happened last year. Marriott responded to our case of the crankies by going back to 75 for PP and giving back the additional 25 nights (in rollover). Based on my experience, they have stayed with the 75 night figure this year. I remain PP this year and am now sitting at 75 nights due to rollover. I ended the year at 216 nights, 66 of which were rollovers.

Yes, I updated my post above.

Since I did not print a 12/31 account summary, how does one verify what their 2011 year end night count was so as to confirm the total deduction on rollovers? I am LT plat and clearly don't track it too closely other than monitoring point balance for awards. Of course, rollovers don't impact me one way or the other except for possibly Plat to PP, (if that even counts) - but now I am curious.

Membership Level: Platinum Premier

Did I win? And, if so, what did I win?

A dazed look from the front desk clerks as they try to figure out what to do...

A 20% discount when dining in a Marriott restaurant...

Some properties allowing you to raid the pantry...

and don't forget the dazed look from the front desk. :)

It is pretty much useless, but nice to be recognized.

Yes, that was old news...

When I was granted (it's not earned) PP in January, they attempted to declare 100 nights as the tier nights when computing Rollovers. But I was Platinum at year end and attempting to grab an additional 25 nights retroactivly was not acceptable. Had they granted PP in December, I wouldn't have had an issue. They did add the 25 nights back as rollever and all was good in the land once more.

Well, I plan to throw around my newly minted title the few times a year I travel with friends or family and need a bigger room. Maybe the virtual concierge will be impressed and be more inclined to figure it out rather than a FD Clerk...

Reading this thread (and also having been granted PP) I have to wonder if there is a different calculation method used than top 3% -- or that 3% seems to be concentrated on FT?

Unfortunately there does not appear to be a hard and fast rule for making PP, but if it is revenue based, having a large percentage of them being on FT would make sense.

Yeah, my gut is that something has gone haywire. Granted, I've been PLT every year since 2005 but don't put up nearly the numbers I've seen tossed around here.

Not complaining about getting PP, but if everyone's easily Gold/PLT/PP it really means nothing but broken expectations come check in / upgrade time. And I've experienced properties with crowded lounges that refuse to restock the food...

Same here, except 2006. Platinum for 5 years with 100 nights in a (Marriott) hotel and still no PP. Maybe I'm glad I didn't get it though with everything I'm hearing.

Perhaps I should stop at lifetime silver and move to Starwood...100 nights moved over plus the 40-50 I spend already there gets me an ambassador. Somehow I keep going back to wanting LT Gold though -- must be the concierge lounge access.

i didn't stay enough last yr for Plat rollover, but ended the year with 180 nights most of them on the 2010 rollover into 2011. I think i only stayed 43 nights last yr but 15 on the CC plus the bonus 15.

I didn't notice any difference in treatment so i am not mad either way with it. Still platinum and soon to be LTP.

megtravels Jan 17, 2012 10:16 am

I really think they write all Plat's names on little pieces of paper..thrown them on the floor and the, say 1000 or so closest to whomever throws them get to be PP.

And yes, SOME places will really recognize you...most will be like Platinum HUH:confused::rolleyes:....

BTW most servers will have no CLUE what to do with the 20% off meals....one time it took about 20 minutes for someone to confirm this, and to adjust my check. I mean, heck, it was on the BACK of the card.

HealthyAcademic Jan 17, 2012 10:46 am

Odd... My rollover went from 108 nights as of this weekend (checked on Sunday) to 54 this morning.

I don't remember what it should have been but that's a large differential.
