free parking??

Since a lot of downtown facilities charge for parking, how about free parking for top level elites. If there is no fee maybe reserved spaces close to the door. It really bugs me to have to walk a hundred yards to the door when some kids attending a high school prom have taken all the spaces near the door.

Really? I've been staying in this hotel for almost a year now and I've never gotten the Pres suite or free room service.

And I order room service a lot. You said your room rate was the "per diem" rate. Is this the rack rate, which is usually $229/night? If so, you probably paid for that "free" room service since this property has some very highly discounted corporate rates.

plat at courtyard in pensacola. item from 'store' plus a cert for a free drink at their bar. Got this both times I checked in (3 nights each)

The federal per diem rate for hotels in Austin is $108. I don't know the OP, but when folks refer to per diem rate, this is what they generally mean.

Wow ... Presidential Suite and "free room service" on a government rate ? Unbelievable !! I have never heard of free room service let alone experienced it !!

Well again, what does free room service mean: That the order is free or that the normal extra charge for room service is comped but you still pay for the meal?

4getofn Nov 4, 2011 6:03 pm

Ohmark ... I must not be getting it ? I have never seem a rate offered where "room service is included" ? I get the theory/practice that they can pack in parking or a bottle a champagne but room service ? If you can, point me an example of one of those rates.

I'm not saying I'm familiar with what the OP is talking about, but he appears to be asserting that room service "for the duration of stays" is a perk he received, not that there was a rate that included it. As indicated above, I'm not sure what the OP means by free room service.

I have seen variations on this theme.

The Cleveland Renaissance has consistently comped my parking and let me take room service breakfast on weekdays rather than use the club, and the Boston Ritz has offered me a complimentary breakfast and club access as I tend to arrive early in the morning while I wait for my room to be prepared. The JW Marriott DC gave me a 'green room' and a lunch coupon while I waited for my suite as well. They also allowed a buffet-breakfast inclusive rate to be transferred to (basically whatever I wanted) room service without any hassle.

Properties allowing room service for otherwise comped breakfast I've seen occasionally. Being comped to a drink or sandwich while waiting for a room to be available I've also seen occasionally. I don't think the OP was alluding to either of these. But, who knows? Maybe the OP will enlighten us as to what he meant.
