I generally don't get this communication till late February / early March. I am in the UK so maybe this is why.

I just realised the 20% off is a US only benefit, which I why I don't get any value from it.

No. Looking forward to that black card...

key the music and the soft opening....."way back in my day Black Cards were the highest level of the Honored Guest Awards program"....then when MI added a new Platinum level they were the 2nd highest level....but alas I'm getting older and Black Cards are no more".....(ok kill the music...my waning is over)

Thanks for the laugh Socrates! Are you saying the Black card is no more? Just relying on what George said above. Any truth to those "double secret" Platinum levels the run-off reservation agent posted a few week ago? :p

185 nights last year (with rollover) but I was apparently not renewed at PP.

After a year at PP, I don't really understand the purpose. I was upgraded to a suite in Houston on my first stay, and to a suite in Chicago later in the year.

As for the other 120 nights .... maybe I got a room on the C-L floor, or maybe I didn't. Perhaps 10 percent of the check-in's commented I was a PP. Otherwise, no difference.

Have been lifetime Plat for 3 or 4 years now and PP for more than that and it really makes no difference.

PP - Benefits at Key Largo Marriott

I just finished a 3-night stay at the Key Largo Marriott Resort and was actually greeted as a Platinum Premier for the first time ever, and was upgraded from a 2 Queen Bed 1BR unit to a 2BR suite with a huge patio - on a $167/night AAA rate (for which I qualify). The property is a bit dated, but fits in very well with the Keys.

A nice getaway, just an hour south of Miami... I'll be back!

-Jeff

p.s. I logged into my Marriott account, which should have passed 1,000 nights stayed sometime last year, but for the first time noticed a bit of text stating "It’s been our privilege to serve you for 1,000 nights".

Overland Park, KS FS Marriott, been staying there since 1997, place has definitely improved in later years, I'm fairly well known and welcomed by the great CL staff.

First stay ever as a PP, no special greeting but its my usual check-in Gentleman we always kid around with so offense taken or anything expected.

Got to my room and there was a welcome note "from the front desk" and some marketplace goodies in a small basket. No idea if it was from PP or just a one-time welcoming gesture as we stay there throughout the year for weeks on end. They are so friendly it could have been out of the goodness of their heart too.

Kidded with the CL staff that I was now PP and got "of course we know that"...

Guess I'll see next Monday.

Colleague just made PP too but stays at a nearby FI was greeted as a PP and told she's in the top 3% of PLTs and now all her Marriott points would be doubled! Doubting that somehow...

Well, next week nothing and no anything recognition even from a special "elite" check-in kiosk setup on Monday nights. And I had to reminder her about the PLT gift (which never came anyway.) Think she was new but its OK, staff great otherwise.

I am not a PP. I actually don't have any MR status yet, but should hit Platinum easily this year -- new job, new location, company is paying for TownePlace Suites. I've been here for about two weeks now, so should hit Silver as soon as those points are submitted (or however it works).

TownePlace Suites Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, PA (technically in Moosic, PA) has a little paper shout-out on the front desk for Elite guests checking in on that day. Usually there is a Plat or two, 2-3 Golds, 5 or so Silvers. The other day there were two PP's on the list, which I hadn't seen before (and was unaware of) so I asked the girl at the front desk what it meant. She said that they were the top 3% of MR members, but she didn't really have much more info than that. So they are at least aware of it here. I am sure they give the amenities on check-in, but the chances of getting an upgrade to a 1BR or 2BR are 0% -- those rooms have had the same people living in them for months, if not years. Hopefully I will be here long enough to catch a break and move up to one of those rooms!

Sign up for the Platinum challenge. You have up to 4 months to have 18 nights (stays). You will be made Platinum immediately upon registration. I just did this last week.

Yeah!!! Got promoted to PP

Just checked my MR account, and noticed that my status has been changed to Platinum Premier and nights rollover.

I have been Platinum for 5 years prior, and have 920 liftetime nights.
Last year I have 176 nights, but I only saw 16 nights rollover into 2012.

Will I be getting a different membership card for being PP?

bdschobel Feb 10, 2012 5:32 pm

Yes, you will. Congratulations!

You've gone Black! The PP card is black, so yes, it's different than the Plat card.
