I'd always go with the marriott.com status. Mine shows:

Name: iflyjetz
Account number: 123456789
Member Level: Platinum Premier
Point Balance: 57,284 points
Total Membership Nights: 989
Rollover Nights: 235

My status may be downgraded to Plat after 28 Feb, but I imagine that my 210 nights in 2010 will keep me at PP for 2011.

I also received the same (or similar) e-mail today. "Hmmm," I thought, "they've finally caught their error and put me back where I belonged."

But I checked the MR site and I'm still listed as PP.

[QUOTE=happymommy;15793575]What do you get differently as PP? I've heard of suite upgrades?

QUOTE]

Staying mainly in UK properties, I've found that moving from Plat to PP has increased my suite upgrades from 10% of stays to 30% over the last year or so.

NYC Hotels

Just made PP a few weeks ago...:) Looks like last year’s splurging for stays at the JW and Ritz paid off. I will be in NYC every week for the next few months, so will post more updates in a few weeks (Marquis on Times Square & new Autograph Collection coming up)

Property: Courtyard New York Manhattan/Fifth Avenue
Length of stay (repeat stays?): 3 nights (last stayed 3 years ago)
Greeting: “Thanks for being a MR member”
Room upgrade: No
Suite upgrade: No
Special requests filled:N/A
Other: No CL or breakfast. Front desk recommended attached restaurant which offers a $12.50 breakfast. :(

Property: New York Marriott East Side
Length of stay (repeat stays?): 3 nights
Greeting: “We have your Platinum# on file...”
Room upgrade: Yes (High Floor, Corner, Superior Room)
Suite upgrade: No
Special requests filled: N/A
Other: Ran out of contact lens solution, called At Your Service. Told me to go down and check with front desk. So I change out of PJs, into day clothes, run down to front desk only to get sent to gift shop. Pay $9 for 3oz bottle of solution. Not dissapointed, becuase it was what I expected, but the same thing happened to co-worker at SPG hotel recently and they brought a bottle to his room.

Property: Fairfield Inn & Suites New York Manhattan/Times Square
Length of stay (repeat stays?): 3 nights (stayed there 3 years ago)
Greeting: “Congratulations on being PP! Please don’t hesitate to ask if you need anything...”
Room upgrade: No
Suite upgrade: No
Special requests filled:N/A
Other: Lounge is under construction so breakfast is now served in the nice bar on top floor. ^

While I don't think this has anything to do with the selection of PP - my gender is very clearly MISS Claire on my Platinum card, on my MR profile page, every reservation even shows MISS (in capital letters, no idea why!). Any similar documents to my husbands show Mr - so I do think that Marriott does know that I am a female and he is a male.
