I recommend calling the PP line the day before you expect to arrive. At a minimum they will put an upgrade request in your record. If you get a really good rep they will call the hotel.

Exactly the same experience here. If there is a special number, I don't know what it is, and neither does anyone I ask. If someone wants to PM it to me, that would be appreciated.

AFAIK there's always been a PP desk.
The number that's been on the back of my PP card for at least the last 3+ years is always answered: "Thank you for calling Marriott's Platinum Premier Line. Please enter your 9 digit Marriott Rewards account number." Once I enter my MR#, the phone is always answered with something like "Platinum Premier desk/reservations. This is Shelia. What Marriott hotel may I can you with today Mr. xyz?" |
Utterly Confused. When I log on my status:
Name: TooMuchTravel73 Account number: 1234567890 Member Level: Platinum Premier Point Balance: 735,950 points Total Membership Nights: 613 Rollover Nights: 18 Based on what I've read here, I'm perhaps more confused than ever. Apparently I made PP; I stayed exactly 135 nights last year; Have been Platinum for 5+ years; Most of my nights were at ResInn; or at steeply discounted corporate rate. (I can count on one hand the # of times I've paid more than 175/Night in 5 years) I have no idea why I made PP; nor do I understand why I only have 18 rollover nights. Guess I need to call and ask Edit: Something new I've never noticed before, on the "my account" web screen, at the bottom I see: Membership Benefits Silver Gold Platinum Platinum Premier Elite Benefits Guarantee I don't recall seeing the PP benefits before, but when compared against the 'plat' benefits, they are identical in every way. |

Please know that I am joking, I do not really think there is a conspiracy theory going on. Just think its odd that I am still P. |
Some clairification on rollover nights
2010 I rolled over 18. I ended up with 135. 2011 Rollover credit 135-18-75=2011 Rollover What I was told is anyone who went from lowly plat, to the unwanted PP, got their rollover nights done incorrectly. those who went plat to plat or PP to PP were fine. If you were 'upgraded' to PP from Plat last year, a quick phone call will allow the rep to 'manually' adjust the rollover nights, but it could take 'up to a week' to post the correct amount. On an off topic aside, I was also told the Feb 1 'mega bonus" was 25 nights yields 50K points, no visa required. |

I got this response after querying about my lifetime balances and then asking about earning Gold Emeritus and then could I get Platinum Emeritus:
"Our corporate office reviews all our members' accounts during January and February of each year to determine which accounts will be renewed with their current status based on past loyalty and which accounts will be downgraded. If at some point, you are unable to reach the required number of nights to maintain the Platinum Premier status, then the applicable Lifetime status would be given at that time." I had around 181 nights this past year and made Plat Premier. They rolled over 66 nights so I'm not complaining. I'll requalify for Platinum end of this week. Maybe they have some minimum number of nights for consideration for PP. Then they might factor in other stuff like spending. I also wonder if the properties get any sort of performance recognition for how many elites stay there. |
