Well that makes it better (the rolleyes is directed towards marriott, not you).
While I'm pretty laidback I do have to admit that when I hear of the large scale exclusions, I think it's a devaluation of the promo/program.
Cheers.

Actually I find it ironic now that all 3 Marriotts in *MOSCOW* are valid for EEO's but neither Boston nor DC does.

man the OP is right, EEO's are a big joke if all of this is true
the only reason I didn't notice as I guess I'm not affected is b/c I've stopped staying at FS Marriott Properties since the mandatory club lounge closures on weekends

But I agree that eliminating basically Boston, NYC & DC is a devaluation of the EEOs.
Cheers.

I'm sure you were told this by someone but they were mistaken - this isn't correct, the decision to be open or closed on weekends is a local decision - the only requirement is that lounges must be open Sunday Evening through Friday Morning

With that said, many of our hotels have consistently gone above and beyond, "brand standards" in order to serve you better. Along with the instruction to maintain the same published standards, hotels were also encouraged to not “over achieve'”, (including keeping concierge lounges open on weekends) unless market conditions warrant a change. In short, this is why many of you are noticing that some properties ' offerings are not as rich as you may have received in the past.

I assume the OP's reference to mandatory weekend lounge closures is to the policy that Marriott put into place during the height of the financial downturn, and which was confirmed by the Marriott Concierge in a thread here, to the effect that fs properties were advised by Marriott corporate to not open lounges on weekends and not to provide weekend breakfast coupons. Shortly thereafter, most properties that had been open on weekends or provided breakfast coupons, changed course and closed the lounges and eliminated the coupons. Seems that recently, from postings in various threads, that some of those properties have again reversed course, and are open on weekends, or are providing breakfast coupons.

I think this issue was started because of MC's statement below:
While you may be "technically" correct in that Marriott has not "forced" all hotels to close CLs on weekends, telling them to "not overachieve" is pretty darn close (and probably amounts to the same thing.)

One thing about the Hospitality Industry to know is the successful organizations realize this is a "street corner business" and they allow local managers to do as they feel is best (Marriott does this at it's managed hotels and allows their franchised hotels to do this as well)....organizations that run things from HQ often struggle.....this reminds me of one of Bill's hotel tours a few years ago, he was touring a hotel which was formerly owned/managed by MI but was now franchised....the hotel had just completed a top to bottom renovation and the regional manager for this franchise company was showing Mr Marriott around - his was very proud of the fact that 10% of their guest rooms at the time had HSIA in them (yes it was this long ago - it wasn't even a brand standard at the time), after a few minutes Mr. Marriott finally asked - is 10% good? To which the manager stated matter of factly YES! Mr. Marriott's response was very interesting, "it certainly is interesting on how your company determines success - at Marriott we only consider 100% being successful" (yes this franchise company has been mentioned repeatedly on FT)
Short sighted operators will struggle and be less than successful - operators who go the extra mile will continue to win customers and revenue over their competitors
