Any recent stays post-reno? I am leaning towards to the newer Four Points south of downtown for my upcoming stay.

This hotel is great. The new club lounge is beautiful. The breakfast in the Club Lounge is much better since they started rotating the hot items. The staff is fantastic and Platinum recognition is excellent.Peggy in the Lounge is delightful and knows her city well and proud to share some of the city's more interesting spots.
Mohammed the bellman is amazing. Recently I stayed there and was given a really bad room. Mohammed assisted me in moving my possessions to a slightly better room the next morning. He suggested that I ask for an even better room since he knows I am a frequent guest. When I returned from my day of meetings, he asked me if i had been moved. I told him that I had asked but had been told nothing was available. He said he would see what he could do. Five minutes later I was in a suite overlooking the river. That is initiative!
All of the other staff are extremely friendly and do whatever they can do to make your stay enjoyable.
The location is much nicer than the Four Points. Next door The Spadina House has delicious wood fired pizzas.

I stay there multiple times a year. Am not a Plat so cannot speak to upgrades etc. I believe the renovations are all completed now ( could be wrong ) and the new rooms are contemoprary and much nicer than the earlier pictures in this thread. Restaurants are good and the bar is always lively ( and has great food and cocktails). The newly renovated Club Longe is nice and has some good food options. There are lots of restaurants within a short walking distance.
The negatives, from my perspective at least, is that it is always busy. A combination of conventions in the week and sports teams at weekends. The waterslide park is great for families so it is always busy at weekends. The last 2 visits I wasn't able to book a Club Room even with a couple of months notice ( Perhaps the SPG Club Room promotion was a factor). Without Club access the extra costs for parking and breakfast add up.
I have personally been disappointed with the Four Points. I stayed a few times but avoid it now. It is soulless, with no atmosphere at all. The restaurant and bar are mediocre at best. It is quite a way from anywhere in a residential / suburban area and there is just a large Walmart and strip mall within walking distance. The only advantage it has is lots of free parking. It's frequently not a whole lot cheaper either.

Nice renovated room
I stayed in this hotel once every year in the past three years. Just came back from my recent business trip a couple of weeks ago - definitely enjoyed the stay this time with the renovated room!
I had declined housekeeping service during my stay to stay green and to earn 500 bonus points per night, and found that the stay green idea does not really apply if guests are asked to fill in the paper form on a daily basis to decline the service - kind of a waste of a nicely printed paper! If this is a practice across all spg hotels then this part is a drawback of the stay green program.
All in all, applause to the management and the staff on the improvements!

Just following up after my stay at both properties in YXE last wknd. I agree with the comments from both canalskater and fizzer.
The Four Points is less than 2 years old and already looks far older than that. The building was clearly built 'on the cheap' and it shows. I could hear conversations from people in the hallways and the floors both above and below my upgraded suite as well as every footstep - hence, no sleep without earplugs, if the hotel is full and there are a lot of kids (which it appears there are on wknds). Also, they have managed to clutter up the Front Desk area with a non-brand standard 'gift shop' with crap, the door to the back office is propped open showing stacked accounting boxes down the hallway. The suite itself was tacky with non-brand standard bath products and no glasses could be found. Plus, no Starbucks in the adjacent 'power centre' so, needless to say, I left after one night.
The move downtown was a bit tougher than I expected it would be. The Delta Bessborough has gone thru a full renovation and while the lobby is meh, the room I was shown, for 20 CAD less on a wknd special was very well done. The Cavalier Front Desk was great and once they noticed I was going across the street to check out a room, they sweetened the pot a bit. Needless to say, they won me over. Their rates tend to be high, like most of Saskatoon, but the long, long overdue renovations are well done. They are finally more than 60% complete so be warned, but I was pleased. The only odd aspect of the exterior is that their entrance was dug up at some point over the winter or spring and no one has repaired it as yet (City responsibility likely but its not becoming of a hotel in downtown).
Thank you for the feedback on the property comparisons, I should have heeded those but thought I would would give the Four Points a chance. My bad.

Glad to hear that I wasn't too off base.
FYI They are building a new Four Points in YQR, very near to my office. I hope it isn't the same owners as Saskatoon because my impression was that they did it on the cheap too.I haven't been to the Four Points in Saskatoon for at least 18 months now and I felt it looked cheap then. If its looking run down now then I guess they reaped what they sew.
Am heading to Cavalier in Saskatoon for 3 days again tomorrow and again unable to get a Club room even though I reserved over 2 months ago. Hopefully that will be fixed when they have finished all the floors because it's that lack of availabilty which is so frustrating.

Saskatoon "wake up" call
I stayed here again last week. Excellent Platinum recognition as always and all the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The recorded wake up call was really funny.
" Good morning , it's 8 o'clock and -22 celsius. It's currently snowing and there will be flurries all day. The high for the day will be -18. With windchill it will feel like -34. Have a great day!"
There is a great new restaurant, Ayden, opened by the former winner of Top Chef Canada. It's only a 5 minute walk away.

I'm in the process of booking a room at this Sheraton and noticed that the room sizes differ between the room descriptions and bullet points! Here's some examples.
Club Floor, Non-Smoking: King Bed
250-400 sq/ft Cityview Room.
Suite, Non-Smoking: King + Double Sofa Bed
500 sq/ft Cityview room, with sitting area.
Suite, Non-Smoking: Queen + Double Sofa Bed
400 sq/ft City view suite with seperate sitting room.
Not sure why there's such a discrepancy.
Club Floor, Non-Smoking: King Bed
250-400 sq/ft Cityview Room.
- 370-400 sq ft / 34-37 m
Suite, Non-Smoking: King + Double Sofa Bed
500 sq/ft Cityview room, with sitting area.
- 600 sq ft / 56 m
Suite, Non-Smoking: Queen + Double Sofa Bed
400 sq/ft City view suite with seperate sitting room.
- 350 sq ft / 33 m
Not sure why there's such a discrepancy.

Overall though I am always treated well here. Both restaurants have been upgraded nicely within the last year as well.

Thanks for the detailed information, Fizzer! I've booked the Club Floor, Non-Smoking: King Bed on the birth year rate for this stay. Will have to try a suite next time!

I'm not that familiar with the other options TBH but there isn't much else in the immediate area. Parking is free for SPG Platinums and is also included ( or certainly used to be) if you book a Club Room. Throw that in with breakfast and it makes the Club Floor rates more attractive.

I recently completed a 4 night stay here. My observations:
The rooms have been renovated as indicated up thread. As an SPG Plat, I was upgraded to a nice, but not super spacious, corner river view suite that had views of the green belt and of the Delta Bessbourough across the street.
The service of the staff is quite strong. People are genuinely interested in helping you out and addressing any concerns that you may have.
Being an older hotel, it has older features. The bathrooms are quite small and the walls are quite thin. You get the sounds of doors slamming closed and TV's in other rooms as you walk throughout the halls. Some of the other public areas, like the elevators, seem to have a lot of wear and tear.
I did get a wake up call at 5 AM one day, although I did not order a wake up call. It wasn't so bad as i was there for work . . .
The hotel restaurants have also been refurbished and have new furnishings. The breakfast restaurant, Scarlet, had a great breakfast with a lot of variety on the menu.
One minus of downtown Saskatoon is that there is not a convenience store or liquor store within walking distance. There is a small hidden shop in the lobby off the Starbucks for small toiletry items. The Trans Canada Trail is immediately in front of the hotel, which is a solid running option along the river if the weather is favorable.
The Club lounge is small, about 20 seats. It offers free waters, sodas and the usual hot breakfast and evening snacks. Alcohol is for purchase.
Parking is still free for SPG Platinum members. The hotel continues to participate in Green Choice, although didn't provide vouchers every day. The points posted without any issues.
I would probably return again if I needed to stay downtown.
