HKD 1800+ for a Wonderful Room. An SPG50 discount on this room is not usually available, but was extended as a goodwill measure.

This is great for a W Hotel.
On my second visit in a week. This time I took the airport express train in from the airport. Much better than even car service. Faster and just a fraction of the price. |

I love the pool at this property. Up on the 76th floor it is a great place to relax.

Have just completed first stay at this place and it is great. one of the best hotels I've stayed in.
As SPG plat upgraded to a nice corner room/suite with good views, etc. Location not too bad for getting around and great for airport access due to airport express train service close by. Elements shopping not too bad either with a few decent restaurants. Only things to improve would be complementary breakfast and a nice 'free drinks' lounge like some of the Sheratons Noz |
Agree. My favorite hotel in HK now. To summarize the reasons :
- Easy airport access. Direct train from HKG terminal to/from Kowloon Station right below hotel. Rain or shine, no traffic, no hassle. - Easy food. 360 supermarket in Elements Mall. I'm picky with what I eat and you can pretty much get most things familiar from US/European markets there. - Easy restaurants. Way too many to count in the Elements Mall. - Subway station right below. - Great, friendly staff. - Views. From rooms, especially corner room facing the sea. From pool ... (I hope no one takes offence) ... my grandpa would call it a "knickers-dropping view" :p. Price is a little on the high side at times but that's just what HK is anyway. |
Recent Stay at W Hong Kong
Stayed for 4 nights. Booked using C+P ($90 + 4800 points). Upgraded to a Fantastic Suite. I'm Gold, not Plat, so this was great and unexpected. Note that in response to a welcome e-mail sent to me prior to arrival, I asked for an upgrade. Upgrade to a higher room class was confirmed via reply e-mail, then I was pleasantly surprised with the suite upgrade on arrival.
Corner Suite on 26th floor with stunning views of the harbor and skyline. Exceptionally comfortable bed. Amazing shower and tub. Generous supply of high-end toiletries. Notably good maid service. A/V system in the living room and bedroom were excellent (Bang & Olufsen gear in the bedroom.) Only complaint is no way to plug in an iPhone--iPods only. Good, fast wireless, complimentary for SPG Gold/Plat. Cool control panel for lights and for mechanical sheer curtains and black-out shades in LR and BR. Concierge did a great job getting us dinner reservations. We used the Audi Q7 service from the airport, which was comfy and professional. Door staff and bellmen excellent and very friendly. Door well staffed. (Overall atmosphere was very friendly and professional, with lots of staff eager to help.) The Bliss Spa is terrific. Great facilities on 75th floor, including very cool tiled hot tub facing a sheet of plate glass with a killer view, good steam room, good sauna, awesome showers (but no steam shower). Got a signature massage, which was very good. Breakfast buffet is prety amazing. We didn't go to any of the restaurants except for breakfast. We also missed out onSunday brunch, which looked insanely good and the champagne was really flowing. Would go to brunch on next trip, even if not staying at the W. The location is OK--not great, at least for me. The subway is very convenient, and is one stop away from the Hong Kong stop in Central. My only issue is that you really can't walk anywhere from the hotel. It is bound on one side by highway and on the other by a massive residential apartment complex. So to go literally any place you need to take the subway or a taxi. The Elements mall is convenient, and full of high-end stores (but I'm not a mall guy, so not a benefit for me). The pool is good, though not very large. The real benefit is the fact that it is on the 76th floor with an awesome view. Overall, my experience was excellent. Here is how I think of it: If I could get the same deal again, I'd do it in a heartbeat. If I couldn't get the suite upgrade, but could get the C+P rate, I'd still do it. If I had to pay retail, I would choose the Mandarin (where we also stayed on this trip). But ultimately I think that's a matter of taste--I prefer the MO and the HK Island location, but I could easily see how someone would differ. |
You can walk places from the W, they just don't make it easy. The only exit I could find during my stay is by the ice rink in the mall, but you can walk from there to the main parts of Kowloon in 10 minutes or so. The plaza level, on the roof of the mall, is inescapable.

Maybe I don't get out very often, but the W's pool is the first I've ever been where music is piped in underwater.

I stayed at this Hotel again 2 weeks ago for 6 nights. as platinum member, got Fantastic suite upgrade. This is fantastic hotel attached to a great mall. subway can take you easily to anywhere you want in HKG. i used the Audi Q7 airport service. they reduced the price of this service, last year it was 750 HKD plus 15% tax. this time was 680HKD everything included.
i checked my luggage and got my boarding pass at the train station one day before my departure date. walked freely the next morning to the train station taking the Airport express to Hong Kong Airport. from the train station to passport control for 220HKD you can buy a train pass that will give you 1 trip on Airport express plus 3 days of unlimited use of the subway system. also included a voucher for 50 HKD to use at element mall ( i used it at the 360 supermarket), 20 HKD that can be used on other malls, 30 HKD discount for Disney Land, and some other discounts. very good value. the W is my address in HKG. ^ |
Great post and pics, Matt. I have also stayed in that hotel before, but to be honest I was not that impressed (especially with the service).

Are you Plat?
Was in there myself a week ago. As a Plat, excellent service. It's now my favourite SPG hotel in HK. |
Stayed here on C&P for a 1-night layover... location can't get any better. Quick ride to Kowloon Station on the airport express, one MTR stop to Hong Kong station and in-town check-in at the station the next morning. Amazing hotel that feels very intimate. The room wasn't large but the 'cool' factor is outstanding and got upgraded to a harbor view. Asked for extra Bliss toiletries to take home! Pool has amazing view that is arguably too scary (at least for me bc of the open-air, gym was ok) to swim and was pretty crowded. Will definitely stay again... especially on C&P.

I just booked a 4 night stay for next June for the beginning of a honeymoon trip. We used an SPG 50 rate for a Spectacular room at $250 USD (the Wonderful room was available for $231).
I'm SPG Gold and am going to try for a status match to Marriott Plat soon. Do you all recommend emailing the hotel and asking for an upgrade ahead of time? Is it worthwhile telling the hotel it's our honeymoon? Thanks, ejh25 |
Also stayed at W for one night stopover on C+P (best value if you can get it). Perfect hotel if you arrive into HK in late evening... =) Hopefully next time we can stay a bit longer and get to use other facility/services there.
