FYI - The pool is closed till 29th Jan.

It was annoying as the confirmation email didn't advise of the fact, and one has to look for the information at the website - especially when you know after the fact. The receptionist didn't offer alternatives. She just said, sorry. And that was it. Poor show, I must say.

I was there the other week; since it's outside it seems way too cold to use the pool anyway. It was open when I was there but no people- too chilly.

There is a heated jacuzzi up there you know. And for those of us who come to HKG from sub-zero Europe, it's really not that cold in Hong Kong now. I was using the outdoor hot tubs every day last weekend at the IC HKG.

Stayed here on free night, got upgraded to a corner suite. There were no other perks for Plats, but the suite upgrade was already very nice. The pool has now re-opened.

I have had three recent stays here, all of which were upgraded to Fantastic Suites. I am currently in Taipei and look forward to returning later today for another stay.
One stay was a FWN Award , and the other 2 paid stays.
I absolutely adore this Hotel, the atmosphere it has and how well they treat you.
It is also a quiet Hotel from the point of sleeping so no street noise issues that you may have in place like NYC or Taipei. I find the location a bonus as it is quick and cheap to get to places like the Temple St markets, Nathan Rd or HK Island. I have stayed at the Sheraton but this Hotel works best for me.

Do not miss Salsa Night on Sundays!

Salsa as in dancing or a chip and salsa party? Do they have a club there?

Not everything stops when the music ends;)

Are guests allowed to use the spa facilities such as the steam room if we do not book a spa treatment? Is there a charge?

Also, if you do book a spa treatment is it customary to tip in HKG and if so what %?

Yea, thanks for the photo review. My sister only had good thing to say about the W in HK since her last visit. Now I can see what she is talking about.

How did you manage that? I see no C&P all year.

i would love to know as well... no C+P for a while... (hoping something will open up for April)

I have a few nights booked in mid-April on C+P and am a lowly gold. I don't expect much of course in terms of upgrade, but is there really much of a difference between the wonderful and fantastic rooms to switch to paid nights? View doesn't seem amazing from this hotel no matter what room you're in but i may be wrong.

Some friends have recommended that I stay at the Intercontinental if I want view, so now I am wondering if I should "tough it out" here in a wonderful room for a couple of nights with C+P and book a guaranteed full harbor view suite at the IC for the following couple of nights.

Anyone thinks it's a good strategy?

For a super-view of Victoria Harbour, you could stay at the new Ritz Carlton Hong Kong when it opens in a few weeks. The views will be magical from 100 plus floors up (I think the Club Lounge is on level 117) but I had a look at pricing (and as a leisure traveller) is currently beyond my budget :(

I recently stayed here for the first time and was upgraded to a Cool Corner Room as an SPG Gold Member. The room and the staff were phenomenal and this is probably my favorite SPG property I have ever stayed at. The only downside is looking at the back of the new Ritz Carlton which I find to be a rather unattractive building.

I love this hotel. Now I'm feeling nostalgic and want to go back. Was there for 5 days last summer. We're trying to get to Beijing this summer, but the prices are muy  .

If I can find a good fare to Hong Kong I'll jump on it. Love love love the W Hong Kong!!!!

Is there a particular reason that all days are blocked for cash and points pretty much for the next year in advance?

looking for only 1 night! August 11-12, 2011... any idea how to make this happen?

12k points is just too rich for my blood.

email or call the hotel's in-house reservations to see if they can open up some SPGCP5 award (not guaranteed)
