I will be in HK later this year and am looking at a couple of hotels - the W and the JW Marriott. I’m wondering if anybody has personal experiences with the two? Of course the locations are not the same (I have a slight preference for Admiralty) but not significant enough to make a big difference.
Admiralty is a more convenient location than W/Kowloon for most business and tourist activities, that's why I live here :P. If you have specific questions after you can ask - particularly for first timer visitors to Hong Kong, I would recommend the JW Marriott for convenience, if the price doesn't put you off. |
Has anyone had experience with how the hotel's pure-payment payment links prior to arrival works for AMEX Marriott cards' merchant coding? Trying to understand if payments via that link will be coded correctly for the 6x bonus points on the Amex Marriott cards.

Any recent stays here for feedback?

But no substantial changes here over the last few years since COVID. Anything in particular you're interested in? ElevatorEnthusiast 's posts tend to be excellent for giving you a whole world of pictures to see every part of the hotel and rooms :). |
Are there any rooms with views of the harbour (Hong Kong Island) as opposed to just ships?

If you really want "The" Hong Kong Island view then you need the Ritz Carlton, which blocks the view of Central from the W. |

Is the lack of air conditioning a recent thing for the W? The 6th floor and the rooms don't seem to be getting cooled enough.
I can understand during the day, with the sun and all the windows, that it may be warmer. However, even keeping the blackout blinds closed in the room and overnight, it always felt hot and stuffy even with the thermostat set to 19C and fan to High. |
If you are in HK right now Jebby_ca then it is certainly at peak humidity and heat right now (quite early in the year) and with lovely clear sunny skies, so outside is certainly able to challenge many air-conditioning units... I can indeed remember staycations that you wanted to keep blinds down to keep cool during the day. So I think that it isn't a recent thing, but I don't remember it being an issue later on in the evening with sleeping.
