All the local bloggers are raving about this property. Cool corner rooms and up (Fantastic, Marvelous, Wow and E-Wow suites) have been averaging 90% occupancy over all days of the week (and 100% on weekends)...the line for check in was dozens deep at 3pm last Saturday, wrapping around the entire lobby area.
Thanks to the generous status match I jumped on the bandwagon (having always sided towards legacy-SPG ;) ) and booked myself in a Marvelous Suite (which is the single most popular/difficult to book hotel suite across all 5* hotels in HK nowadays!) for two nights. Amazing bathroom. The bedroom/living area I thought was a bit sterile and plain and somewhat dated, some switches didn't work. The breakfast buffet at KITCHEN, despite all the negative reviews by the local bloggers, I thought was quite good actually - by no means fine dining / gourmet but the selection was satisfying. The hotel offers luggage delivery to the RC as many people tie these two hotels together for their staycations. I moved over to the RC and got upgraded to a Deluxe Harbourview Suite (a pleasant surprise) but comparing mid-tier suites across these properties, I actually liked the layout (and definitely the bathroom) of W HK's Marvelous Suite a lot more! |

In short, their brunch was excellent, but I think you can kiss your suite upgrades goodbye. AFAIK the Marriott quarantine hotels are the Le Meriden Cyberport, Ovolo Southside, Mira Moon and Courtyard Sheung Wan |

Don't want to take this way off topic, but Ovolo hotels are now part of Bonvoy? That would be great!

you are missing out Marriott Skycity ;)
Here again at the W HK in a Marvelous suite again, it’s very busy and crowded, but there is really not much to fault about everything. The pool has reopened and it’s a real treat. |
even today is busy? wow
have a few bookings with them in this week too wish that I don't need to queue for the pool |
Checked-in on Sunday night with my dog. It's his first hotel stay so quite excited for him, he seems to have enjoyed it.
There was a queue of ~7 in the lobby but the dog was my VIP escort, skipped the line completely. Took the in-room breakfast option so I didn't have to leave him alone in the room. Judging by room service I had for dinner and a quick look at Kitchen in the morning, it seems Food and beverage has improved quite a lot. Kudos to them. Also wanted to add, Marriott gift card were processed successfully at FD. |
Can't imagine how much better the breakfast in Kitchen could get, it's one of my favorites of all the places I stay. They make an almond croissant that is amazing.

Having been on 3 local staycations recently, I can say their offering was the best of all. |
Has anyone stayed at W HK recently?
I am wondering if I can get a complimentary upgrade as an Ambassador in January (Monday-Thursday). |

I am wondering if I can get a complimentary upgrade as an Ambassador in January (Monday-Thursday). However, impossible for us to really say - the hotel is a nice one and has tried to upgrade in the past - but it depends on how busy they are and how many other Ambassador/Titanium guests they have, there could be quite a few if HK has reopened properly, to just you if it remains fairly closed. Please do report back of course. |

As a Titanium, I've stayed during quarantine (very limited scope for an upgrade as they were so full, but I did get sea views from the cheapest room), and during HK's staycation schemes (initially good upgrades to suites, but got poorer as the hotel got busier). The hotels will likely not be that busy until March/April 2023, presuming not much change from the Hong Kong government to invite in more people, so you've got a chance.

I also booked REN HK (which is more expensive than W, go figure), but my HK friends say that W is nicer. I am wondering which one has better view of the harbor. W HK has no lounge but REN has, though. |

W HK has no lounge but REN has, though. Breakfast better at W. REN has lounge and it’s OK but nothing special. Grand Hyatt is much better with harbour views from lounge too! Pool is actually shared with Grand Hyatt which means it can get crowded. at REN I think they’ll upgrade to harbour view or the smaller suites but as I said, W has modern suites whereas REN needs a refurb. You will get 2 drinks for the bar at W if that helps. As for location, REN is better. W is in Elements mall but apart from that, not a lot around. It’s easier to get the ferry across from REN to Tsim Sha Tsui than bus from W. There can be a lot of traffic. Based on the above, if for tourism, I’d probably go for REN but if for the suite then W. W still has dining credit packages ($1500 credit for around $3000) and 5000 bonus points. REN has triple points. Note that Le Meridien has finally reopened and they used to have good drinks and snacks (hot and cold) for elites. Might be worth considering as it has been renovated but seems a bit overpriced right now. |
Just wondering if 2530 HKD per night (tax included) is the going rate, under Luminous program. Need 2-3 nights for November.
The other option I’m eyeing is St Regis but can’t seem to find a good deal. thanks |
