Lurkers, can you guys/gal confirm the progress of *wood props in Macau.

There have always been the cat 4 Westin. Has the Sheraton, W and St. Regis opened, or planned opening? It was delayed due to the economy. But last I heard, the gaming sector has been spectacular in Macau, so it should be on track again?

I don't have any information on Macau. Perhaps Thyetus or Christina can check from their advantage point?

The St Regis never got beyond a a couple of floors of concrete shell before that project was abandoned, and it's not on the Starwood website anymore.

The complex was originally supposed to have 4 towers - a St Regis, a Traders/Shangri-LA and two Sheraton towers.

The other three towers were abandoned half-finished for a few years, but the Sheraton towers seem to have restarted.

Shangri-La has pulled out of operating the third tower, and it's still derelict, according to news reports I've seen.

You can see a fairly recent aerial view here:

http://wikimapia.org/#lat=22.1453762...eraton%20macau

No idea where the planned W was supposed to be.

Some projects that get removed from the Starwood websites are still not totally written off. They do sometimes return and get completed. I'm not sure what will happen with this SR, but Starwood hasn't removed all traces of it 100%. I would guess that it's just on hold.

No idea where the planned W was supposed to be.
Macau Studio City. South of the Venetian. And it's still a possibility if the Studio City developers and investors work out their differences. Some progress was made in the past couple of months with a new controlling interest by Melco Crown Entertainment.

The website says that the Sheraton is currently scheduled to open June 1, 2012.

Good point. The Sheraton Macao was removed from the website for a long time, then reappeared.

It looks like the tower that Shangri-La/Traders bailed on managing is now going to house a Conrad Hotel and a Holiday Inn:

http://money.cnn.com/news/newsfeeds/...re/0785437.htm

Recent photos from the last few weeks here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sands_Cotai_Central

The Shangri-La logo has been removed from the first tower, though the ghost of it remains.

The Sheraton logo is already up on the middle tower. Its 2000 rooms are apparently set to open in 2012, while the right Sheraton tower, with a further 2000 rooms, will open in 2013.

There is repeated mention of the "Sheraton Towers brand".

Anyone know what that is?

Sheraton Towers was a brand used extensively in the 1980s. Sheratons in big cities had a "Towers" section that was geared to business travelers and more exclusive, with better rooms and a separate lounge. Most hotels have long since phased out using that name.
