I wonder how much longer till there are no hotels left in the Luxury Collection with the Sheraton name. Only a few remain and the ranks dwindle each year. It's sensible that they're moving them over or renaming them. Having Sheratons in the Luxury Collection is a confusing legacy of when the brand was just the top tier of ITT Sheraton.

The Avis bus driver was talking about this new Westin this week since all rental car buses are losing their curb-side drop-off due to construction.

Ouch. I didn't see this one coming ... this one hurts. A classic hotel in a great city. Dang.

FWIW, the LM brand is really paring back in the Americas of late. Wow.

I was surprised to find that this property wasn't listed here sooner. In general, the brand has been paring back.

Was discussed at length in the thread devoted to this property. We had a 2 month advance notice or so.

I now about this, but people use to publish some scoop from local newspapers, etc. well ahead of inclusion in spg.com. Somehow http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/starw...ighlight=Aloft is much more active, and includes now other brands as well.

I'm happy about the FP Penang. Always wanted to visit there, looking forward to trying it this winter.

Also sad that there are no new hotels planned for Japan
