Stay/Night credits

If I apply for a card this month, will I get 2 stays/5 nights credited to my account for 2014 calendar year, and then again in January for the 2015 calendar year?

Thanks,

I cancelled my card 07/24/2013
has it been long enough to reapply and get the bonus again?
ie can you churn these and how long do you have to wait between times?
seems like I was thinking it was a year but I may be confused.

There is no substitute for reading the terms of the specific offer, but in general:

If it is a personal card account you are never eligible for another new account bonus. This is the American Express (USA) policy for all personal cards as of 5.1.2014 - one bonus lifetime. (If the card features were to be substantially revised, American Express might regard it as a different product. This occurred when the Starwood "platinum" card was replaced by the current "red" cards.)

If it is a business card account you are eligible for another new account bonus after 12 months.

See http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/ameri...etime-usa.html for extensive discussion of the new policy to which mia refers.

Yes I had read that they have gone to the one time only
My question was since I got the card in 2012 and cancelled in 2013 would the rule apply to me or only after 5/2014 card holders? When I applied and cancelled the rule was still 12 months
Guess I could try and see but really don't need another pull to not get anything
Problem is it sounds like I would be approved, think everything is ok, meet the soending bonus and then get denied
At least this is for the first purchase so I could see if the give me the 10k up front

The policy applies to everyone.

30k offer seems to be live again, but only shows up during the booking of a SPG reservation. Went in to book a room at the new Element Harrison-Newark last night, and during booking, a 30k offer popped up. I suppose it could be targeted, but I jumped on it (after taking several screenshots, of course).

Just got this card a few weeks ago. Was disappointed to see the card was mag strip only, no chip. I called Amex to request one with a chip. It's being sent right away and I got 1000 starpoints for "my trouble." Nice!

Also, saw this asked a few pages back, but it never got a response -- does adding an authorized user result in a hard pull?

Can anyone speak to AMEX's general approach to business cards? Thinking of getting the business version of the SPG card (already have the personal) but would probably need to put some regular spend or gift cards on there to meet the minimum. Asking for an FR?

American Express does not care. They prefer to issue business credit cards because the consumer protections are less, and the merchant fees are higher. However, they must go through the ritual of asking about your business, and cautioning you against personal use, else it appear that they induced you to give up your protections. Just bear in mind that you, and your business, are both fully responsible for the entire amount charged on a business card account, even if the purchases are made with a card in the name of a partner or employee. Think of it as a personal card for business purposes.

Quick and simple question, I think...

I have an Amex SPG card issued in my business' name at this time. (And a Plat card.)

I don't have a personal SPG card. Can I apply for a personal card (I already have personal Blue Cash and Delta cards)? Can I qualify for a new card bonus since I have not received a bonus for a personal SPG card yet?

Thanks,

Eric

Yes. Be aware that American Express (USA) generally applies a limit of 4 credit cards per person. This would bring you to that limit: SPG x 2, Blue Cash, Delta. You would still be able to apply for charge cards (Green, Gold, Platinum) without closing any of the existing card accounts.

I have had the SPG American Express card for a number of years. When reviewing the benefits online from American Express, I can no longer see any reference to Preferred Plus benefits, such as 4 PM checkout or upgrades to enhanced rooms (both based on availability). Are SPG Preferred Plus benefits no longer offered as a benefit to American Express USA credit card holders?

Greeting and apologize if someone ask same question in past (I'm on road so it's difficult to spend a lot of search). I'll hit platinum and $30000 spending on amex spg personal pretty soon. I appreciate if someone can confirm what I think - in 2015, I'll need to do 13 stays or 40 nights to maintain platinum status (after receive automatic SPG gold and 2 stay/10 nights via amex card). Thanks
