I don't know why you think UR worth less than UA when it can be transferred to UA with 1:1 ratio.
If you value SPG on average 2.5c/point then you earn 2054 x 0.025 - $27 = $24.35 If you value UA/UR at 1.5c/point then you earn 2000 x 0.015 = $30 And CSP doesn't have 5x categories, you are think the Ink. But whether to use SPG or another card at a SPG property overseas I think that should be left to individual member to decide because everyone uses and values their points differently. |
I don't think it makes any sense to compare a CSP to a SPG card as there is no way to get SPG points with a CSP. The only cards worth comparing are parts that yield MR points from amex. On another note, the CSP seems nice, but I can't use it as I live in Georgia and Delta is the only worthwhile airline to fly out of there as far as cost. So the CSP doesn't work for me either with airlines or hotels.

Used my SPG card today to buy 2 iPhone 6 in HK. Didn't even manage to step out of the store before hawkers hounded me. Managed to sell for a small markup to cover the ftf. Easiest MS ever. Lol.

Great idea

SPG Amex forex fees are getting me to make my first post. Like many, I want those gone.
If Starwood & Amex aren't willing to completely eliminate these fees, how about at least eliminating forex fees on all Starwood properties? That way card holders aren't disincentivized to use a Starwood card at a Starwood property. In addition, I have a Ritz Carlton card (a chip card) and this year they will add an additional 10% of points to my account based upon the total number of points accrued in a year. They already give 2x points for restaurants. Maybe SPG Amex can also incentivize some options for cardholders to use the card more frequently. |

What are the current best offers for this card? I'm in the middle of signing up for SPG Rewards and am being offered
10,000 bonus StarpointsŪ after your first purchase on the Card 15,000 bonus Starpoints after you use your new Card to make $5,000 in purchases within the first 6 months $0 Introductory annual fee for the first year, then $65 |
This is the standard offer. Once per year there will be an offer for a total of 30,000 Starpoints rather than 25,000.

I just took a long survey for the SPG Business Card asking about new features they are looking to add. They gave a list of all the possible features, then the next several questions asked what I thought of various combinations of the features with annual fees that range from $95-$110. EVERY combination they asked me about had no Forex fees, and free wifi at all SPG hotels. So, it looks like these 2 features will be added for sure at some point. Each option given had 2 of the features below, plus the Free Wifi and No Forex Fees (so 4 new features total). Here are ALL of the new features they are considering adding:
-No fees when you make foreign transactions. -Free Wi-Fi in Starwood hotels and at most airports. -2 Starpoints for every dollar spent at any hotel. This includes purchases at all hotel brands such as Marriott, Hyatt or Hilton, as well as Starwood. (Applies when making purchases directly with hotels - does not include purchases through third party sites such as Hotels.com or Priceline.com). -2 Starpoints for every dollar spent at restaurants. -2 Starpoints for every dollar spent at restaurants and 2 Starpoints for every dollar spent at any hotel. This includes purchases at all hotel brands such as Marriott, Hyatt or Hilton, as well as Starwood. (Applies when making purchases directly with hotels - does not include purchases through third party sites such as Hotels.com or Priceline.com). -2 Starpoints for every dollar spent at select online retailers such as Amazon or Zappos. -Get 5,000 additional Starpoints when you spend $10,000 in a calendar year. -25% off one Starpoints redemption once per year. For example, if you wanted to redeem 10,000 Starpoints to book an award night, you would only need 7,500 Starpoints. -2 Starpoints for every dollar spent on business expenses within one of the following categories: Computer hardware and software and office supplies. Shipping and computer hardware and software. Office supplies and shipping. Office supplies, shipping, and computer hardware and software. -Complimentary access to the Sheraton Club Lounge when staying at a Sheraton property. Amenities within a Sheraton Club Lounge include continental breakfast, access to snacks and beverages throughout the day, and space to gather or relax. |

I can't find the paperwork that came along with the card. Any suggestions? TIA |
I am planning to apply for the Business and Personal SPG credit card.
Can I apply for both on 1 pull on same day? What do you guys recommend me? When does the 30k offer usually comes? I am in no rush |
For those of you traveling to Chile... it is worthwhile to bring your Starwood American Express if staying in Starwood properties while in the country. They charge you in USD. While I almost always ask to be charged in the local currency and not USD, in Chile if you do that you are subject to a 19% VAT on your hotel stays. However, if you charge your rooms in USD - they waive that VAT for tourists (so long as you're not in the country for more than 60 days). Plus there is no foreign transaction fee for being billed in USD (so no annoying 2.7%).
Bottom line, if you're heading to Chile don't forget your Starwood Amex! |
