how long it takes for the bonus 5000 points to be posted after the referred party gets the SPG card application approved?

Anecdotal evidence seems to suggest pretty quickly....still, for privacy reasons, I don't know exactly.

I've only referred two people, but both of those applied and were approved near the beginning of the same week. One of the bonuses posted the Friday of the same week, the other bonus posted the following Monday.

So I would say 3-5 business days.

Do bonuses only post at statement close? I'm very close to my minimum spending, but my statement closes tomorrow and I won't have enough time to do it before the statement. I think my 10,000 after first purchase posted right away, without having to wait for the statement to close, but I can't remember. I'm sure this has been answered before, but if someone could help me out that'd be awesome.

Also, does anybody have any recent experience transferring to US? How long has it taken you? The most recent accounts of this I have found have been 1-2 weeks, but they were from 2011 or so. I was hoping maybe it had sped up by now. I'm anxiously waiting to book an award ticket with US and two of the segments have only one seat left. I should be able to meet the spend in a couple days and assuming that the points will not have to wait for a statement to post, I can transfer the rest of them to my US account in 4-5 days.

SPG AX NEW MBR SPEND BONUS-CSR

It's not a new card, so I don't know what it is for. I have received two referral bonuses and those say "referral".

Any idea what this is for?

Amex has historically posted as soon as you meet the spending, whether it is first use bonus or minimum spending. A couple of days usually.
No experience with transferring SPG points to any airlines.

No, but American Express is inconsistent. It appears they use a batch process to detect and award outstanding bonuses. The process may award the bonus a few days after you cross the threshold -or- it may take several weeks.

Just a quick data point -

I hit the spend threshold this weekend. The points posted this morning and my account is now updates as Gold. Efficient update, very nice!

Somewhere around page 5 or 6 of your billing statement it will say something like this:

Your qualifying Year-to-Date spending on your Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from AmericanExpress is $3,124.00. To qualify for Starwood Gold Preferred Guest® Status, you need to have $30,000 in qualified spend by December 31st.

So it is easy to keep track.

Quick question, is 5 nights / 2 stays credit only available on Business card now? I haven't been able to see the same benefit on Personal card based on AMEX website...

My last SPG statement, at the end, has the following words:

"Restrictions on Welcome Bonus Points: Effective immediately, this section of the supplement to the Cardmember agreement is deleted in its entirety"

Any idea if this has any implications for getting this card more than once?
