Stayed here for one night. I had a problem with cribs in the past and when the Westin experience specialist contacted me, I told her about my past experience with cribs and she guaranteed one in my room for this stay. Well, it never happened, I had to go through the same process in the past. However, as usual, the stay was a little below expectation given what was guaranteed.

My apologies! We're going through our crib process to make sure it doesn't break down again. It is no fun arriving expecting a crib and not having one in the room. Please keep contacting Jenny before your stays. She is still a bit new in the position, but she is incredibly nice and cares about our guests and getting it right. Happy New Year! Phil

I was there for the first time in 20 or so years on Christmas night. Overall, a pleasant stay. The SNA cleared well in advance, and the "junior suite" was actually a full one bedroom. The check in clerk said water would be at the landing (apparently it ran out, but there was water in the room), and since the club lounge wasn't staffed (open, but nothing really in there) he gave us a breakfast voucher for what appears to be a temporary buffet room, which was an acceptable morning alternative.

The only downside may just be because of the airport, i.e., this is the only airport hotel I can recall staying at where there weren't timed shuttle departures. "Every 25 to 30 minutes" means checking out extra early. We ended up waiting 2 minutes for our return to LAX, but planned on as long as 30 (with the additional "fear" of it filling up). On our LAX arrival, the van filled up after we arrived and no one at T 4 through 8 could get on. I am wondering if it is just because of chronic LAX congestion that timing isn't currently practical.

Overall, I'd stay there again.

Continually average

Checked in for my first stay this year, stayed here about 15 times last year.

The FD staff are nice. Booked a traditional, given a deluxe (matches the best upgrade I've ever had here as a P75). Was given a room with a connecting door (my profile says no connecting doors) with party goers on the other side so had to ask for a new room. Moved back to a traditional as they said that's all they have (despite executive and deluxe rooms being bookable on the SPG app). No problem, now just waiting for a bathrobe and mouthwash to be delivered.

Again, the staff are always nice, the rooms are good for working in but I'm thinking of looking for a new hotel for myself and the employees I have stay here with me.

Faith renewed

Stayed here again Monday - Friday last week. Had some conversations with management who were very responsive.

Room was great for work (internet is reliable and fast enough), the ladies in the executive club were fantastic as always and everyone in my group was happy.

Looking forward to future stays, I felt very cared for.

Thanks again to Phil for a great stay.

Hypothetical Shuttle Question

Looking at some options for changing up the airport transportation early summer.

Run with two other hotels with an average frequency of 9 minutes,

Or, run dedicated Westin shuttles with average frequency of 14 minutes.

If you have a minute to let me know what you think it would be both helpful and appreciated.

Thanks!

Phil

My preference would be for dedicated Westin shuttle at 14 minute freqency.

9 minutes may seem shorter, but having 2 other hotels can turn 9 minutes to more than 15 minutes.

Dedicated shuttle. Sharing with 2 other hotels, even with greater frequency may be more likely to result in full vans by 5/6/7/8. Further, "things happen" at other stops. 15 minutes is a reasonable wait at a better airport hotel. "Every 25 to 30 minutes" is not.

Also, always have a nice stay @ LAX Westin. My 1st Choice when staying at the airport.

I absolutely love staying at the Westin LAX. Last few times I have stayed at the property it had its own dedicated shuttle. Sounds like it might have reverted back to a shared shuttle. Having a dedicated shuttle is the best option as this is a major airline crew hotel for layovers and with crew and others it can be busy. Please keep in mind that all hotel, rental car, off-site parking and others are at the mercy of ATC and the airlines. A company can have 5 shuttles going, but when 10 flights arrive it creates crowds and full shuttles. LAX has all of its shuttles fighting general airport traffic other then having a dedicated pick-up and drop off area so that also can slow things down and create full vans.

Looking forward to my next stay at the Westin LAX.

How is the beer selection in the Daily Grill or lounge area? I usually like staying at the 4pts because of the bar, but I might switch one of my nights this weekend (Friday and Sunday night) to the Westin just to try it out and have a different beer experience.

Thanks.
Rich

P.S. Dedicated Westin shuttle please.
