Westin LAX

did this category just change from yesterday from a cat 2 to 3? I was going to book it for 3k points yesterday, now it is 7k????? Anyone?

LovetoTravel83 Jun 6, 2012 1:21 pm

It certainly upped a catagory.

I was looking to book over there a week or 2 ago for a one nighter using points and it was a catagory two.

Definitely changed, I booked it a week ago with category 2. But this hoyel to be honest should not be category 2...but higher...

they cleaned their act up - A LOT

Actually, they have been working at cleaning their act up- gym is redone - the new restaurant is really quite good and they have a club...it's now worth the level 3 burn -

Another reminder that hoarding points is usually not a good idea.

I agree. Damn I feel like I missed out on the 3k points per night here.

I just stayed at this hotel. I booked using 4K/night - not bad for points redemption IMO. However, the hotel itself disappointed me. It is kinda rundown.

The Gateway at 7000k is better. I find the front desk unfriendly. Some of the rooms are pretty dingy looking. The lounge is depressing, pool is uninviting.

How did you do this? It should be 7k per night.

I'm guessing he booked it before the change in catagory.

The Westin LAX Exec Lounge is a joke.

Does not begin to compare to Sheraton Gateway LAX Club Lounge.

Also, Westin TV channels are terrible.

Had a stay on June 30th for 1 night-on a points stay.

My primary complaint is that I had a terrible night's sleep due to a large (as in over 1000 people) convention going on, which seemed to consist entirely of motorcycle riders and the women who love them!!! From the yelling in the hallways at 2am to the actual ROAR of motorcycles outside on the street , on dozens of occasions throughout the night. Just when I would fall asleep, another noise would wake me up. Really made for a rough night!!

The room itself was fine- starbucks in room coffee is a plus.

I was hoping to stay in one of the jacuzzi suites but the Plat line could not figure out what room type, if any, have the jacuzzis on the terrace. The Terrace Suite does not list having a jacuzzi. The last mention of a jacuzzi within this thread was 2006. Have they been removed?

If they have it sounds like the Sheraton is a much better option.

If by "jacuzzi" you mean a bathtub with jets, perhaps they are in the Director or Chairman's suites?

They also mention a "spa" on the private balcony.
