Anybody booked at this website for parking http://www.airportparkingreservations.com/ ?

It says for the Westin they charge 20 USD for Valet.

Had a decent stay here recently. I was supposed to stay here for one night but then extended it to three nights. Prior checking in I was upgraded to a club room but while checking in I asked if there were any suites available and yes there were and I got upgraded to a terrace suite (Why do I have to ask for it?), the suite is a 2 room suite with a balcony but everything in it is way too tired.

Breakfast is at the club lounge, during the weekends I got a card to have a mini breakfast at Starbucks kiosk in the lobby. I also felt a little attitude from the housekeeping staff which I brushed off. Other than the parking rates ,furniture and housekeeping, the stay was decent.

There is an incorrect review by Benjamin F that says you have to pay parking charges at the front desk. You can do that, but there is also a pay machine on the passage between the hotel and the parking lot.

If you get a good self-parking space, it's just a few steps to the front desk. About the same distance as leaving it with valet.

Yeah but the charge for valet is $20, $15 if you are using a promo code which are easy to find, and self parking is at $27.50. The only problem with that website is that it doesn't offer in and out which is fine if your arriving at night and checking out the next day.

Stayed at the Westin on May 19th and found a few changes.

1. Free parking is getting very hard to come by now that it has been broadcast in all of the LAX hotels threads. Lets hope that the bloggers or the city does not wise up and ruin it for those of us not on an expense account.

2. Went down to use the Sauna and found it totally gone. One of the things that kept the Westin in mind for a booking, was the Sauna. As one of the last things I like to do before a long international flight is to take a Sauna then a dip in the pool before heading to the airport.

Makes my mind up now to stay at the Four Points with Phil and his wonderful service he provides.

Where is the free parking? Is this the street that runs in back of the hotel, parallel to Century Blvd?

Pre-upgraded to terrace suite, indeed a great view.

Is it possible to book a terrace suit room with points or C & P?
Are there any terraces with jacuzzis as well?

Stayed here for four times, all in a Terrace Suite, none of them came with a jacuzzi.

PTahCha Aug 14, 2013 10:35 am

Yes, there are suites with jacuzzi tubs out in the terrace, but not all suites have them. Probably need to book with the property directly to confirm. When I got upgraded to one, it was an awesome place for plane spotting. The deck was private, and you're in a hot tub. Can't beat that.

Also, the hotel has indoor self parking as well.

Poor Value near LAX

Just checked in for a weekend stay.

Overnight self-parking is $25, much too expensive for a relatively dilapidated area IMHO. In fact, the gift store clerk told me about a hotel guest whose purse was robbed from her at gunpoint in the past few nights. "This is common around here because criminals know that there are lots of tourists walking around at night." Sorry, tourists.

When I arrived in my room, I noticed the lotion and shampoo amenity bottles were half-used. That's a first at a Westin for me! I called for replacements and service express was kind enough to send two soaps and two shampoos.

Lastly, know that the food and drink portion of the executive club lounge is closed on the weekends. Evening hors d'oeuvres are only served Monday-Thursday. I was a bit upset about this since I chose this hotel for my weekend stay. The hotel features page does not state that the executive club lounge is closed on the weekend. (Clarification: the club lounge is technically open in that the coffee maker, computer, and printers are available). The manager told me that the weekend no food/no drink status is indeed specified on the website, but only in the details section of the club room rate option seen during booking.

Views of the airport are fantastic, which makes for an entertaining view for planespotters.

The rooms are old and have seen better times, particularly the bathroom and carpets.

You should have read this forum first. Most people would have told you to stay at the Sheraton or 4 Points.

Use this as a learning moment. Check FT before booking!:D

Westin LAX is worth revisiting.

As my earlier post indicated, I avoided Westin LAX for several years because of lack of Plat benefits and Sheraton Gateway has been consistent in upgrades to suites (haven't missed one yet). I stayed at both Sheraton Gateway and Westin LAX for 1 night each recently and was impressed with the improvements at the Westin. My corporate rate is the same at both hotels, however, my rate had free parking at the Westin but not at the Sheraton, so the effective cost is lower at the Westin by cost of parking at the Sheraton ($13 with no in-and out behind the hotel).

Sheraton Gateway still is best for Plat upgrade to suite. The CLub Lounge at the Sheraton is still disappointing, coffee machine was broken during my stay, so no capuccino. Breakfast at the Sheraton Club Lounge only had cold hard boiled eggs for protein, or else it's typical all carb American continental breakfast. I'd pick the Sheraton if I am traveing with family for the suite.

Westin now has a real Club Lounge that has much better breakfast with hot items than the Lounge at Sheraton Gateway. There were 2 hot items with protein the one morning I was there, along with the usual cold items. The new Starbucks coffee brews individual cups was nice, the only other one I've seen was at San Jose Hilton CLub Lounge. I arrived late at night, so did not experience the evening offerings. I also did not check out the gym. The lobby is unchanged from several years ago, large and impersonal. I was given a regular King on the Club level after inquiring about upgrade. So don't expect upgrade to a suite and you won't be disappointed. My room rate included breakfast, so front desk gave me a coupon for continental breakfast at the Starubucks cart, where the old Plat check in desk was located. This was nice for a latte and oatmeal to go after breakfast in the Lounge.

In summary
If you want suite - Sheraton Gateway
If you want a decent Lounge with real breakfast - Westin LAX
As usual, each hotel has its advantages and disadvantages, prioritize what you want and select hotel that best meet your needs.

The right corporate code brings self-parking to $10 or even $0, as reported earlier.

There's also free parking on the street behind the property but for $10 I use the garage, which is very convenient.

Agreed. Just stayed here and had a nice hot breakfast on the 12th floor club lounge. Included scrambled eggs, bacon, oatmeal, a variety of fruit, as well as the advertised continental breakfast (pastries, yogurt, cereal, etc.). There's also a evening happy hour from 4-7.

I was given a standard king room as a plat, with the usual Westin amenities. Service has been friendly across the board. I personally think Westin has the best park and fly rate amongst the 3 SPG hotels in the area (although the sign in the parking garage is a bit unsettling). For the same point redemption, I would choose the Westin, although I also did get a suite upgrade at the Sheraton Gateway last time.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone (at least those of us in the US)!
