Staying here 13th - Parking/Internet fees ridiculous
Wanted somewhere close to airport, and got special $99 rate for the night, but we didnt realize this is one of hotels that is gonna cost an additional $50 for the night combined for parking and internet use.
I am gold SPG member, anyone stayed here recently that can give me any hints at reducing or getting this stuff free? |

If you're not going to take advantage of the in and out privileges, then I would suggest getting a good rate on one of the LAX parking websites. I usually find a $15 charge for parking at the Westin.

Staying here this week, but the poster that mentioned "robbed at gunpoint" concerns me. This area safe? I was thinking about parking at the parking spot (I have the free 1 day pass from milepoint) and walking there but this makes me think otherwise. Thoughts?

"Safe" is relative to the individual. As a New Yorker and a man. I find it safe, but I have street smarts. I wouldn't walk from the Westin to the Hilton after 9:30 or 10pm. But during the day I would say its safe. It's the city, just have your wits about you.
Which makes me think, if I was planning on parking at the parking spot, why didn't I just book the hilton  Maybe I'll have the westin cancelled, seems the consensus here is that the Hilton>Westin at LAX. |

Hey thanks for the reply. I'm planning on getting there around 8/830PM so might be an iffy time. Wouldn't mind if I was by myself but I will have my gf there so might think otherwise.

I think you would be fine. There will be two of you.

Thanks for the advice, I'll check out the Sheraton and the Hilton. Appreciate it.

I've walked in the area at night, perhaps as late as 11 or so, and never felt threatened. You're pretty much just walking on Century Blvd. where there is constant traffic, including some degree of law enforcement.
I think the Westin has some parking all the way in back of the hotel, but my impression is that street, whatever it is called, IS sketchy late at night. I use the Westin garage. Street parking is very difficult at the Sheraton sine they blanketed the street with parking meters a little while back. But street parking is safe and easy near the Four Points LAX. It's even a bit closer if you're at the Renaissance next door. Street cleaning is Thursdays from noon-2:30 IIRC. Either way, it's a 1-2 minute walk along a busy street. I have never paid to park at either of those two hotels in the last 5 years. Here's my favorite trick to finding street parking: Google maps satellite view! Just have a look at any property in the world from the sky and you can quickly figure out where and whether there is street parking. I did that at recent stays in downtown Long Beach (Westin and Hyatt) and figured out pretty fast that looking for street parking was a waste of time. |

He has free parking. Not sure if you are aware of this, but, The Park Spot is a parking spot club with a garage on W Century Blvd. LOL ;)
