I've never heard of such a policy and it sounds insane to me to have to call and book a reservation if you want a guest this day and age but I don't stay at Marriott's often enough to be sure - maybe its there policy that I just haven't heard of.

I did it via the app and it was fine.

Stayed here recently and there were protests outside the hotel all night due to reportedly ICE agents also staying at the property.

I stayed here last weekend and thankfully no such issues for me.

using Chat or how?
I'd just suggest doing it at checkin, but Chat could work

I am flying in and meeting my guest in LA (family member) so I wanted to give them the option of checking in if they arrive before me. I may have to take a later flight then originally planned so me adding them at check-in likely won't help here.
Separately, I'm still surprised there was no option to add a guest when booking.

Yes, via the chat function. I had to confirm my identity (email and last 4 of cc on file), and then I was able to provide the name of the individual that was going to be checking in on my behalf.

Does anyone know if this property has day rates? I’m arriving in the morning, so curious if I need to boom the night before or if there’s another way to confirm an early check in

also - does anyone have an email address for this property?

How long do you need the room? If you're Platinum +, just book the night prior, advise of an early AM arrival, and get a 4pm checkout.

I’m catching a red eye the next day, so need from 10am Fri if possible through 10pm Saturday. I’m already planning to book an extra day at the end (sat night) to allow for the very late check out. Would prefer to avoid booking the night before check in if possible, but may end up doing if I can’t find another way

You can use rate code ZDY to check for day room availability.

The hotel sells Early Check-In for a fee at https://westinlosangelesairport.247activities.com/, so if the rate is lower than purchasing the night before, that's your best bet to guarantee it.

Had a decent one night stay here, and surprised they offered free coffee and donuts mid-morning in the lobby. Had to wait almost 30 minutes for an airport shuttle though, around noon. Just a word of warning.

Had a very simple one night stay, luckily my corporate rate excluded the $20 destination fee that it seemed difficult to get more than $10 back on some food spend. I got upgrade, as an ambassador, to a junior suite. I didn't get a chance to eat breakfast which I understood was being offered in the lounge, but found the shuttles to be very rapid in arriving in the early evening and early morning with minimal waiting. I normally stay at the renaissance thru habit, but would be happy to try this again.
