How's the shuttle situation at the Westin? Westin and Sheraton LAX are the same price for an upcoming stay... but want to avoid the grim lobby breakfast at the Sheraton if I can. Platinum, so I'd have the lounge at Westin (in whatever form). Thank you :)

and i see the westin has been renovated? has it really?

Have a reservation here next Saturday. Can anyone confirm if the lounge is only open for breakfast on weekends?
|
Any update to the lounge situation at this hotel?
|
The website says that the lounge is open and you can book club lounge access rooms.

LAX Westin(Marriot)hotel VIP Lounge—- a disappointment!!!!
It was probably converted from a basic suite room. Basic food (like typical break fast included hotel - nothing wrong with that for family) but hey… for Marriot VIP? Tiny room and people are forced to sit closely…And no espresso machine? Bummer! Room is decent and pillow is really good… on the positive side. Pictures here: |
How was the shuttle service (if you used it) and did you have a choice of breakfast in the restaurant or lounge?
Also, did they have evening snacks in the lounge? |
Decent shuttle free

The pictures above look like the temporary lounge. The rooms have been renovated. The lounge was not finished when I stayed a few weeks ago. It is temporarily located in a suite while construction is ongoing in the new lounge.

Stayed there in early June as well. The lounge is located in a suite, at least is has a terrace where you can watch planes. Food is indeed basic. Breakfast downstairs was offered in lieu of the points during check-in. And lounge was closed on Saturday Evening (at least on June 1)

New lounge finally opened. Location is on the ground floor pass the escalators.

I really like the new decor throughout the hotel. It’s more of a resort vibe than an airport hotel.
No upgrade to suite and didn’t ask but upgrade to a club room. Good size with large couch. Lots and lots of sockets and USB A and C ports. Desk chair is very comfy too. Shower pressure good and hot water. As others have said the bathroom door doesn’t stay open which can be an issue for ventilation in the bathroom. The bathroom light is only sensor activated so after a few minutes it turns off which is a problem when in the shower, especially if the door is closed as you’ll be in the dark. |
The new lounge is great IMO. Only downside is that there are no windows but the decor and seating makes for a very pleasant and comfy experience.
The staff seem very proud of the new lounge. Pictures of breakfast buffet below. No cereals and the Franke coffee machine is good. They have the same brand in the Finnair Helsinki lounge which makes a good latte. No water bottles as you’re meant to refill your own bottle at the water dispensers. |

https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...5d0318fb8.jpeg Beef and vegetable empanadas - very tasty Cheese and charcuterie boards. Coffee, tea, soft drinks, wine, beers, crisps and some other snacks. Dessert is meant to come out at 7:30pm. Staff were constantly refilling and were happy to answer any questions. |
