As for the Dubai EDITION, I was similarly interested but turned off by a pattern of mediocre reviews on other sites. I won't have time to visit on my trip next week, but I did notice that reviews seem to be trending more positive. The location appears to be top-notch and appears better than the JWMM and STR (both of which I will be staying at this trip).

Having stayed at the London EDITION on several occasions, and found it quite pleasant and service very good. Don't be discouraged! But yes, the London property rooms can be a bit smaller and bathrooms sparse compared to other EDITIONS. Dubai EDITION is in a great area, and the rooms are lovely. Just keep in mind the service in the restaurants aren't too prompt. With both properties try to get a rate that includes breakfast.

Most posters on the Marriott thread are looking for elite benefits, suite upgrades / larger rooms, breakfast, etc. The Edition hotels in general don't prioritize these things, as a result, over the years, the various Edition threads have been negative. All the while, the hotels achieve super high room rates and get good reviews on third party sites. As usual, educate yourself about the hotel and choose accordingly based on what you value.

As to upgrades, Ive been well treated at the EDITIONs Ive stayed, with the exception of the TS EDITION (initially - later upgraded after complaint to GM). I think they arent actually stingy for the most part (the USA hotels are usually stingy in general, so I dont expect much there), but its often a function of low numbers of premium rooms at the better EDITION hotels that are designed in a boutique style.

Finishing up a stay here , and it has been fantastic. Check in went smoothly, and upgraded to a suite. Water offered upon arrival before even stepping into the lobby.
All Labo products in room , nothing amiss.
I mentioned in a previous post service was a tad slow on previous occasions, however this trip everyone has been incredibly efficient.
Light late lunch at the pool consisted of the avocado kale salad , quite good. Not very many people possibly being at the start of the season.
Duomo for dinner was good. Grilled octopus and the lobster/shrimp salad both well constructed dishes.
I personally like the signature scent of EDITION and the scheme of their decor , and thus this property remains one of my favourites in Dubai.
edit to add: room rate included breakfast - weather not hot and enjoyed sitting outside for it.

Thats why in 450 nights with SPG / Marriott, Ive never tried Edition. I might as well try Four Seasons or other brands if theres no benefit to being a Marriott elite here.

Stayed for a single night in January before heading to Al Maha. Upgraded to a suite, after a little prompting via the app chat. Very large room with balcony. Staff on front desk seemed a little new but we did arrive after midnight so they were perhaps just asleep - they were friendly nonetheless. Wasnt up for breakfast but did have room service lunch. Location is exceptionally convenient for the mall. Usual comfy bed and nice smelling toiletries. I preferred the new W, but this is a decent hotel, based on my quick visit.

My take on this property:
- great location. five minutes stroll to Dubai mall and all the cool touristy area that surrounds it.
- mediocre hardware. Not all that luxurious, esp for Dubai standards where flamboyancy is the norm in most 5 star properties. Here, things are mono-tone, subdued, beige, minimal... as you'd expect from an Edition. Go for it if this is your thing but I wanna go bling when I'm in Dubai 5 star hotels.
- mediocre F&B. Breakfast was good (though not free if you don't include it your rate) and the other restaurants are also ok, but none of its establishments are 'known' to be a hot scene in Dubai, which is a shame given its location.
- mediocre service. Not bad, but it's not hard to find properties whose staff bend backwards for you in Dubai.... even in four star properties. Here, it feels very standard and they follow procedures, but does not go beyond. the concierge is borderline rude if you are only approaching him for directions - much more personable if you are booking tours through him
- mediocre rooms. not big, not small. not luxurious but not shabby. just decent rooms. Try to get the Burj khalifa tower view if you can.
- mediocre atmosphere - yes you get your typical candle lit lobby vibe in the evenings but this is partially offset by the number of tourists that throng its common areas.
hope this helps. I do stay here occasionally as it is the only Bonvoy property in the vicinity but I've never found it great.

Stayed in early December, got upgrade to Burj Khalifa view Suite.
Room was good EDITION style (which I like)
Great view.
Staff were friendly. Took breakfast ant dinner at Duomo.
Food was good for its price.
Didn't get the chance to try their bar or other f&b outlet.
Did try their spa and apparently they are thrid party operated and cannot charge to the room.

I just stayed here yesterday. Have to say very pleasant stay! booked basic room upgraded to 1 bed suite, 2 welcome amenities, my rate included breakfast too. DUOMO for breakfast very relaxing, the menu was sufficient and one of the best shakshoukas i ever had. room was ok albeit view non-existent. I love the Le Labo toiletries they had though!

Also had a good stay here - maybe because this was my first stay at any EDITION I didn't have some of the disappointments mentioned before, or didn't notice any deviations from brand standards.
I booked a Superior room (1 category up from basic) and was upgraded to Superior 1 Bedroom Suite. Staff at check in was extremely friendly and welcoming. Valet and bar staff also great. Lobby is a bit small, as quite a bit of space is taken up by the restaurant, but the Duomo facade is indeed impressive. Very church-like.
Pool is deep enough, albeit a bit small. It was never busy during my stay though, and the bar did some great cocktails. Did not try breakfast.

Up until around a week and a half before my stay, there had been only premium rooms available in the NUA pool. Roughly a week before the stay when I checked again, up to the Premier Suite had appeared. Sure enough I ticked the Premier and it cleared 3 days prior. Very happy with it. Just wondering if not providing any suite in the pool more than a week prior was intentional from an inventory control perspective but it then makes no sense as I have seems hotels denying NUA even when that room type was available for sale.
Also I have been to many EDITION hotels and all of them use the bamboo keycards. The Dubai EDITION still uses the all black plastic keycards. Just wondering if they had a batch of bamboo keycards before?
