After 3 days here I would like to recommend for those that have any allergy to sandflies / small tropical mosquitoes to be careful here. Maybe it’s only during this season, but it can be an issue.

my wife do has a lot of bites like in this photo

I do have a lot also but less annoying (I don’t have any allergy)

My opinion for this issue (7th time at the Maldives and never had this problem) is due to the “more environmental gentle” fumigation they do in this island

they don’t do the “standard” fumigation with fog (once or twice per week). They do a “fumigation” without the usual fog (this is what we have been told by the GM) that they say to have the same result but with less environmental issue ….

maybe this is not the reason …and just a coincidence or there is another reason why there are so many sandflies and mosquitoes …

what is strange to me is that on other 6 islands with the “standard” fumigation, never 1 bite (always during august). In this island, without the “standard” fumigation, after 3 days we do have a lot of bites

nothing tragic, even if it’s annoying, especially for my wife (went to the doctor this morning and start to take antihistamine pill every day) that need to be careful lying on the sunbed

The GM offered us to move in an overwater to avoid the risk of more bites

in fact, after 5 days on the beach the bites increased …even if less than the first days, having avoided to be lying on the sunbeds at all

I can’t complain of course about the assistance we have been given by the GM; we have been moved for free to the best kind of overwater (sunset with pool) and it’s very nice

every day many people from the staff take care of my wife and they are all very kind

A bit of sour taste remains …because we can’t enjoy our holidays exactly as we wanted and there won’t be any chance for us to visit again this resort (unless the issue of sand flies will be managed, if possibile)

talking about the OW villa, the bedroom seems to be little bit bigger than the beach villa one (of course the bathroom is smaller because not a Maldivian one)

once again I recommend this property about the service and the food, that is one of the best experienced at the Maldives (very good quality, large portions and they take care of any additional request and / or change)

How far out from your reservation are people being asked to book the seaplane transport? Just got an email asking to pay for January 2023. Seems far out.

Thanks. Looking to see if anyone else has experienced this. They say it's during high season but it is towards the end of it. I may not have confirmed flights for months so not interested in paying in advance plus then getting refunded.

Went during christmas/new years last year (Arguably high season?) and I did not have to pay anything in advance. Only paid at checkout.

Same for my March trip. They reached out a month in advance for our MLE flight info to coordinate seaplane, but paid at check out. Similar experience at Westin last year.

That's great info thank you. I replied with the passenger details but said I didn't see why I had to pay in advance. Will see where this goes

The last 6 OW sunset side seem to have pool, looking from the beach, while on the resort map they are not listed as OW w/pool

Another email saying they'd recheck in the 60 day period for payment. Seems ridiculous as their own literature auggeat flights are only confirmed the dat before. Why would I pay 2 months in advance then? Esp since not their policy. Short on cash during low season?

I’m schedule to arrive leas than 2 weeks . No request for payment . I was there a year ago, was charged at check out . Did you make reservations directly with Marriott or third party ?
