We had some bathroom renovations done last year and the plumber said our HWH was set too high, that it had to be lower due to (city?state?county?) mandates. We tried the warm water for a few days, hated it, and had him turn it back up, but with the provision that we stated it was our personal decision and he advised us not to. It does get very hot when left in the highest position. Maybe hotels are afraid of liability from scalded customers?

I would expect that in CA and probably many other jurisdictions, that if the water heating system is shared between the food service portion of the property and the lodging portion, that the water temp is set to no less than 120F.

No hot water (24 hours and on going)
Currently staying in a Marriott property in Barbados and we have had no hot water since checking in yesterday, the maintenance men said they cant fix it as it relies on solar apparently, I thought they were joking but it's seems they weren't. Hotel currently hasn't offered any alternatives, but having no hot water is a deal breaker for me. Note this is our second room as the first room had broken air conditioning. Wondering what options I have, wife wants to move hotels rather than try a 3rd room.. here's a few pics to so the err quality we are dealing with, note this is a 500usd per night property so I expected reasonable quality..

Sadly room price is no indicator of quality. If it feasible you may want to contact one of the Lurkers ( Marriott Bonvoy Lurker , Marriott Bonvoy Lurker II , Marriott Bonvoy Lurker III ) to see if they can assist.

Hotel should either upgrade you to a far superior room with working basic facilities or pay for your accommodation elsewhere, plus add some points for compensation. Don’t accept anything less IMO.

I vote for a different hotel, if rooms are available. They gave you two chances, and both times, management has failed the customer's expectations. No need to give them more of your hard earned vacation time.
