I got 5,000 points for the same thing at Bristol Royal in the UK. No hot water from 6am to midday. Husband was not pleased as he went out, dirty, at 7am. I only asked a few days later when I saw someone on Tripadvisor had been there at the same time and was given 5,000 points

winter - pipes are colder in general - my shower at home feels colder on the very same max temp setting
if i were to stay for an extended period facing such issue i'd look into opening the regulator and adjusting the cartridge - a small hex key is all you usually need for that marriott dyi - can put nonrestricted showerhead for duration of stay while at it..

Anyway, I was looking up "official" compensation for "no hot water" according to court rulings in Germany. I've found a list with two entries:
1. No hot water during a multi-day trip to Siberia in winter: the court decided that 35% of the daily room charge was to be refunded.
2. No hot water in Germany: the court ruled that 5% of the daily room charge was to be refunded.
Especially for the 2nd case the only explanation for only 5% compensation is that the court has calculated that taking a cold shower instead of a hot shower will save the hotel about 5% in energy cost, so this part has to be refunded. Really sad.
