Status Challenge clarification
I have read conflicting information about the Platinum status challenge. During the challenge period, do I get Platinum status (or only upon hitting the 16 nights?). Also, I called and spoke to a Marriott Representative to enroll in the Platinum Challenge about 3 days ago but never received an email confirmation and nothing is reflected online when I log into my Marriott account. How long does it normally take to show that you are enrolled in the challenge?
Thank you for the help!

Member who enrolls in the Platinum status challenge program will not receive Platinum status during the challenge period. Once a Member achieves the correct amount of Nights, their Accounts will be upgraded within 24 hours.
A confirmation email will not be sent after registering or promotion completion. If you would like to confirm your enrollment of the program, you may call customer service.
We would be happy to help, if you could send us a private message or an email with your full name, Marriott Bonvoy member number, a recent stay information and email address recorded in your account for verification purpose.

Can someone give me current status on whether nights have to be paid to count? I could make platinum across a year the normal way from work travel, but I could easily complete the challenge by converting two upcoming personal trips from Hyatt points to Marriott points. I probably won't even try for status if points don't count, and instead just use my Marriott credit card points on super pricey stays during ski season.

I achieved Platinum status through the challenge but I'm not sure how to best maintain it. Do additional nights this year count towards maintaining it, or will they be wiped at the end of the year and only next year's nights are counted?
Sorry if this has previously been asked and answered.

There are no roll-over nights. Each calendar year stands on its own.

2. It's always possible that Marriott will do a double EQN promo during 2023 - they did during 2021 and 2022 - but this cannot be relied upon. Then there's the even-less-likely possibility that you will receive a targeted promo for double EQNs in 2023.
However, it always has to be asked whether it's worth the extra expense of qualifying if you're not staying enough regularly to get the monetary value of the elite benefits. Monetary value is not the headline price of the upgrade suite or hotel buffet breakfast but rather the actual price you would be prepared to pay for a suite or breakfast because that's what you're saving. If I didn't get them as an elite benefit, for example, I wouldn't pay for suite (hence the monetary value is USD0) and I wouldn't pay for a hotel buffet breakfast because I would otherwise have my regular breakfast of black coffee (hence monetary value is about USD5 - the price of a nice coffee).
Mattress runs to maintain status are a long-time tradition in hotel loyalty schemes but it could be better value to maintain your Gold status and pay for an executive room with lounge access when you really want it at a hotel that has a great lounge rather than fixating on maintaining a status that costs you more in time and effort and cash outlay than the benefits you get.

ftrichard SPN Lifer many thanks for the helpful replies.
FlySkyHigh I did not receive an email when I met the requirements. However I did receive an email when I registered for the challenge, which confirmed my registration and set out the terms and conditions for the challenge.

I am in the middle of a 29-day Marriott stay, currently I am just Silver Elite and won't have more than 2 more nights in Marriott this year. Unfortunately, I did not activate the status challenge prior to starting the stay. If I activate it now, would I get the credit for the challenge since the nights haven't posted yet? I'm still about six days from the end of the stay.

There is no retroactive registration for the Elite Status Challenge; the earning date begins on the day of successful registration and credit towards offer cannot be given for past stays.
Please feel free to contact us if we can be of any assistance.

I understand this isn't the correct thread for this question but I'm hoping someone would know the answer to this problem.
I will become platinum elite after my next stay from gold elite. However, I'll be staying at another marriott property approximately 30 hours after check-out. If I call customer service after my stay, is it possible for them to post my elite nights faster? I could really use the free breakfast if I become a platinum member.
Thanks.
