FAQ from members.marriott.com
Q: CAN I EARN LIFETIME STATUS UNDER THE LEGACY REQUIREMENTS (ACTIVE PRIOR TO AUGUST 2018) FOR LIFETIME ELITE STATUS IN MARRIOTT REWARDS, RITZ-CARLTON REWARDS OR SPG? IF SO, WHEN WILL I BE NOTIFIED OF MY LIFETIME ELITE STATUS?
A: Yes, in addition to earning based on the new criteria, members can earn Lifetime Elite Status under the legacy requirements through the end of 2018. If Lifetime status is achieved by legacy requirements, between August and December 31, 2018 you will receive notice of your updated Lifetime Elite status in January 2019. If Lifetime status is achieved based on the new criteria, you will be notified both in August 2018 as well as any time it is achieved through the end of the year.
Example: An SPG member has 300 Lifetime nights, 4 years of Gold Elite Status, and 1 year of Platinum Elite Status after August, 2018. Under the SPG legacy Lifetime requirements, this member would earn Lifetime Gold Elite status which would reflect in their account January 2019.
Q: IF I WILL NOT BE GRANDFATHERED INTO LIFETIME PLATINUM PREMIER ELITE, WILL I HAVE THE ABILITY TO EARN INTO THIS LEVEL IN 2018?
A: Yes, members can earn Lifetime Platinum Premier Elite in 2018 if they achieve 750 Lifetime nights and 10 years at Platinum Elite status. This requirement is only for 2018 and will not be continued in future years. Members will receive notice of this Lifetime achievement in January 2019.

Did you requalify for 2019 between October and now? Did years as Gold or Plat also increase? In fact, what do you think the numbers should be?

Has Lifetime PP status shown up/been confirmed for anyone yet who has qualified from the SPG side? Has there been any update on the benefits associated with this grandfathered status? Thanks.

I would not put much faith in what you see on the website, especially the recent reboot.
In August, mine showed:
Your lifetime statistics
Nights: 834
Years as Silver, Gold or Platinum: 17
Years as Gold or Platinum: 14
Years as Platinum: 11
As of today, website shows:

Now that you mention it, I had a stay in October that brought my annual nights from 88 to 91, and now it says 105 -- without an additional stay since I hit 91. My last 3 employers alternated between Starwood or Marriott and I was either Marriott Platinum or Starwood Platinum from 2012-2018. I was Starwood and Marriott Gold for many years before that -- 14 probably is correct. I made Starwood Lifetime Gold in 2014 and made both Starwood Platinum and Marriott Platinum in 2016 when I switched employers mid-year.
After the merger, my account showed 8 years towards lifetime Platinum and I sent a letter to corporate asking them to double check for me. I got a very nice note saying that their records were correct and I needed 2 more years to qualify for lifetime Platinum (2019 would be one of them). And like I said, the missing 2 years showed up as if by magic in the last couple of weeks.

Isn't the default answer to always say that their count of your years is correct, of course without checking? It's just a version of making up something to get you off the phone.

Yes, the CSRs are going crazy pushing us off probably to move on to other callers making their numbers look good to the bean counters. But I hope the central system they are looking at does match the website/app that we see. There is a slight chance an update is in progress and that would account for a difference. Finding a CSR that will dig in to see what should be showing is rare but refreshing. It would also help if the IT department could let their management the amount of outstanding work is needed so they can STOP saying everything is stabilized. I'm guessing that won't happen until well into January and then they will have to add on the issues with the sweep not working right.

After reading this thread, I realized that my LT nights are also way off. Who knows if and when this will be fixed but it would appear that my LT nights stopped accumulating in August and haven't budged since since having stayed over 50 nights since then.

If today’s leak is accurate it looks as if we will be Lifetime Titanium. Personally I don’t care if they call us Lifetime Eggplants if it means there will be a meaningful delineation between Elite levels.

However, as someone pointed out in a comment in response to the OMAAT blog, think about the abbreviation. Hyatt Globalist becomes Glob and Starriott Bonvoy Titanium becomes.....
